Would they have licensed a Broadway musical based solely on the song "Thriller"? Nope. It was because Landis gave it some kind of teenage werecat backstory (with zombies) that made it of interest.

But I guess this means no HT Thriller MJ.

Then you didn't check very closely. That video and concept is what it is due to the talents of John Landis. Michael Jackson was the performing talent, but Landis is the visionary that brought it to life. He deserves his half.
I have no sympathy for Jackson, either- this isn't the first time he's been sued for not holding up his end of a bargain. He tends to like taking things from people (money, services) and then conveniently "forgets" to pay them what they are due when the time comes. He is very, very far removed from reality; he lives in a fantasy land where he just takes and takes. I liked him very much years ago, but I am very unimpressed with the misanthropic parasite he has become.

Without Michael Jackson and Vincent Price, Thriller the Song & Video would be nothing.

Your blind loyalty to Michael Jackson is borderline pathetic. If the man is owed money he is owed money. It is how things work. I don't know the specifics of Rick Baker's contract or John Landis'. I imagine if Rick Baker got shorted on what was owed to him, he would be suing too.
