Well, they did that with Zune (eventually) and it didn't help.
Still, I can see this being successful even if it's not doing as well as the iPad.
Basically the RT version will be comparable to the iPad, probably similar price point and the tablet design of Windows Metro should work pretty well for it.
Then the Pro version will be a much better competitor to something like the Macbook Air, in fact it should counter the Air pretty well.
