90’s score for both critics and audiences plus A Cinemascore. What reviews? I’ve only seen positive ones.
I kind of know what you mean. It's weird, for me the last 5 Mission films have had far better action and suspense than any other action franchise (even more than John Wick), but I've never felt much desire to rewatch them. At least until the next one is about to release and I suddenly remember that they exist.
Yeah the MI films are so well directed and edited that they're still gripping and suspenseful as hell even when you can often tell there's a lot of CGI involved in something like that final chopper sequence, or the ending train sequence of this movie.I think the MI films have their share of real and not real shots. You can only do so much. They are not going to risk the lives of both actors fighting in a real chopper hanging over a cliff.
But I thought the shot of Tom falling from the chopper and his flying all looked real.
So no DOD huh?Welp, put me in the "liked it but not greatly" category. Better than 'meh' but long and somewhat repetitive of other Missions.
Loved the car chase. The train had some good beats, and some bad ones. Rebecca, as usual, had the best fight in the movie. Tom can still run in a long tracking shot. Hayley was great. Pom started off great...
Didn't love all the talk about the key and how to get it -- then lose it -- then reset, and talk again. Pom disappointed me. The 'big stunt' was heavily oversold.
But man, that car chase...
Overall, better than MI6... not as good as MI5.

They needed another character to deliver more exposition.her sudden change of heart for no reason...
MI:5 is my fav also I think. I did enjoy 6 more than you I think.Welp, put me in the "liked it but not greatly" category. Better than 'meh' but long and somewhat repetitive of other Missions.

The fact it was a Part One probably didn't help either. I'm sure there were many who were simply turned off by the idea of sitting through a three hour movie to only get half of the story. And I admit that made me groan a bit inside as well when it was revealed.Just saw the numbers for this, and they are well below original projections.
Some are saying it will have legs like Maverick, but I'm guessing the reason for the low numbers is what happened to me; franchise fatigue. I said earlier I'm not a huge fan of the series, but what I should have added was the word "anymore."
Maverick was only the second after 36 years, and it turned out to be a great time at the movies - you left the cinema on a high. A rare achievement these days...
not sure I buy the twist at the end and her sudden change of heart for no reason...
I thought she was great. Again I was not expecting her to be in it. I just thought the crazy girl who was living and having fun in the car chase was great.

I guess I had an ok run at the cinemas, here’s approximately 50% of just opening night…kind of read on…
ANH Opening Summer!
The Black Hole Opening Night!
DOD Opening Weekend! (Almost brainwashed by the woke crowd lol)
I saw The Black Hole on opening night as well. One of my friends convinced our group of 5 that we had to go because "it could be the next Star Wars and we'd regret it if we waited". He was NEVER allowed to choose a film again lol.Lucky you, Black Hole opening night.
Take that back! The Black Hole is a Hollywood Jewel.I saw The Black Hole on opening night as well. One of my friends convinced our group of 5 that we had to go because "it could be the next Star Wars and we'd regret it if we waited". He was NEVER allowed to choose a film again lol.
And BTW, NO ONE saw ANH on opening night because it was never called that until years later. It was (and still is) simply Star Wars.
Yet all the MI films other than MI:2 are better than Top Gun:Maverick but you keep watching that movie j/kOkay then there definitely isn't any need for me to see this on the big screen then. I enjoyed MI5 also (though the only scene that sticks out in my memory is Rebecca lifting her leg to balance the sniper rifle) but it never resonated enough to watch even once since it first came out. I think I'll just wait until Dead Reckoning "Part 2" comes out and then watch this one right before so I don't have a big wait between chapters.
