Well unfortunately, apart from the space suits and the "big Chap" himself, all we have from Alien are a bunch of guys. Personally, having seen their work on the headsculpt, I would love a Dallas in his regular working clothes, as well as Ripley, but I can't imagine them selling, irrespective of the success of the space suits (which could have gone either way, in my mind).

Now if they were to revisit the Colonial Marines. . .that is a different issue altogether.

They won't revisit the Colonial Marines because of likeness issues. Same with the Nostromo crew. I'm still holding out for Lucky Star Ripley. They didn't sculpt those Mobius suits to not use them again. Ripley's HS probably won't look quite like Sigourney but I don't care.

Have they said this, or is this speculation? If they said so, is it because the actors won't sell their likenesses, or because they have felt the price was too high?

Given that HT have more money now than ever before (they actually got Arnold's likeness for Dutch, which they apparently couldn't afford a few years ago for the Battle Damaged T-800), I figure they could certainly afford the likenesses of Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton, and a bunch of others I don't even know the names of. Of course, maybe they don't think the price is worth it, but updated Marines would sell like hotcakes.

It's more than just that, it has a lot to do with the original studio contracts and permission of the actors. Tom Skerrit gave them permission for Dallas but John Hurt did not. Michael Biehn and Bill Paxton probably would but then it has to do with the licensor and if they can negotiate a contract.

Yeah, I'm sure it is always tricky getting licenses from older films, back when merchandising might have been a distant after-thought (unlike today, when I'm sure that you sign away your soul if you want to be in an action vehicle). Still, I feel the market is there, and it would be worth Hot Toys' while to consider a revision. . .they have come so far since those previous versions were made. I can't imagine how awesome they would look now.

Sorry for bumping this back up but I'm reading some of the posts about alien stuff not selling and it gets under my skin that this is a fact.
How can Alien regarded as one of the greatest if not the greatest horror/sci-fi movie ever made have figures that don't sell well !.
Argh !. Drives me mad to think that terminator salvation figures are probably doing better.

Its not the fault of the movie, its the lact securing certain actor likenesses and the knowledge that HT wont 'finish' the line.

TS is a by far worse movie, but does have some great figures, and right now is kinda the 'flavor of the month'.

Likeness issues (Kane) and marketing/production issues (Big Chap not sold for over a year later) and lack of introducing more characters in the line (Lucky Star Ripley, Lambert) and you can pretty much consider this line over.

I also think there are a lot of us new people coming into this hobby and TS is some of the first figures we can get(I started with TDK). I will say that especially compared to some of the old figures I've seen, I'm glad I'm just now getting into it. Most of the new stuff blows the crap out of most of the old. If I would have been introduced to the stuff five years ago, I wouldn't have gotten any because the head sculpts were so bad. I don't think I'm the only one either.

It's back in stock. I sent the link to my wonderful wife in case she wants to start her holiday shopping early!

They're beautiful figures, and all those reasons you guys have given for them not selling are valid. But personally it was the price that held me back. Right around $90 is as high as I'm willing to go with most figures--that's just what I can justify for myself and my budget. All these Hot Toys figures, as fantastic as they are, are just too expensive for me to consider unless it's of something that I truly love. I love Ridley's Alien, but SW and Indy take top priority for me.

And out of stock again, unfortunately. They must've found an extra one or two at the time.

I think that people are buying on impulse when they see it is cheap, then removing it from their "Pile of Loot" when they realize that they don't really want it ("better to be safe than sorry" mentality when they see a good deal). BBTS is so good about allowing this kind of thing, that I find myself doing it a fair bit. You've got 2 weeks in which you can remove something from your Pile, so I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two appear "in-stock" again.

Finally picked up this bad boy. Pretty sweet figure.

The Kubrick is his baby. His sweet little baby.

I can't pose his "face-hugged" face so it's looking straight on with the helmet on. It rubs against the helmet and won't turn. Anyone else have this problem?

Push the visor out with your finger, turn his head to get the helmet on, turn his head, then put the visor back on. ;)
