Took another close look at The Thing last evening. For me the best scenes is the blood test, however the best look for MacReady is hoodie up hat and sunglasses, this is the look I shall seek to replicate with the Mondo figure. Maybe Mondo, another artist or some of us shall make this happen.

I hope we never find out, that's what makes it such a powerful ending, even after following these characters the whole movie there's enough paranoia and mystery that you aren't really 100% sure either one of them is human or the thing.
Sometimes it is best not to know.

Pulled! Mondo may yet improve the figure....We wait in anticipation my friend.

Waited to the last day to put in my PO.

Not a diehard fan of the movie (liked it a lot) but had to get a Kurt Russell in my collection.

As others have said, the jacket is this figure's biggest negative - not weathered enough and not fitted to scale.

Just preordered. Put up or shut up time.

I wanted a Thing figure of Mac...ordered the timed exclusive which probably isn't worth it.

Maybe on the secondary market I get get some funds back if and when people have FOMA.

I like Mondo products so here is hoping they listened to fans and include the hood and revise to have real leather. Doubt it, but those guys seem to listen to fans when I hear their interviews.

It is in their interest to listen in the short and long term. The thing is if they do get MacReady right first run they are set up for the future......We wait.

Agreed.

It Would be a great step if they listen and included a extra weathered clothing, or real leather jacket and hood.

It would be some great will towards fans.

I decided to pre-order, as well. I have serious concerns about the quality of this, but the sculpt looks amazing, the accessories seem decent enough, and the part that probably pushed me over the edge were the monsters. If nothing else, this would be the basis for a pretty awesome figure on the display that we might be able to part together.

Thanks for the share - I made it 9mins before I had to stop - the host is (* ahem *) somewhat annoying - and the language was putting me off (and I'm certainly not a prude!)

.

He could of told us in 5 mins or less...he didn't need to ramble on for 38 mins

I'm not convinced that Macready is the Thing at all. He was the "Hero" of the film. Told the final form THING to "F off" and blew it up with a stick of dynamite. Why would the Thing destroy himself like that if he was infected????? Palmer (who was infected) wanted Mac to freeze in the cold because he was a threat. I think people are grasping at straws to get a conclusion when I think the intention was ultmately to keep you wondering

Welp, FOMO got me. I jumped on this just now. It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination BUT it's a very good representation of the character. Plus, the spider head creature looks pretty cool and that was the most terrifying thing I had every seen when I was a 13 year old watching The Thing for the first time. This should pair well with my Sideshow Snake and Burton. The Russell trifecta will be complete!

FOMO is even more infectious than the thing since it ended up getting me too. As far as the jacket I don't mind the tailoring as much as the pleather, if Mondo is able to change it to a more durable material it would be a huge win for us and them but there's not much we can do now except wait for a little while and...

^ That link above skips to past the 13 minute mark, where he gets to the meat of his premise ( Yes, I also agree, the 11 minute preamble just loses people, beyond that though, the position he takes is pretty interesting though, etc. He did go full "Victor" on everyone though... LOL... I hope Victor is well. Also my posts ramble on sometimes too, so I'm probably the last to criticize ramblers....)

I agree lol

I fear the downgrade the most with this. I've only been collecting their animated stylized figures and while those have been great, they've all been cartoonish in nature. I don't recall if they ever tackled a full 1/6 human-based figure before. I'm expecting Sideshow level of downgrades here where the sculpt and paint soften up quite a bit in production. I'd be quite surprised otherwise. I PO'd the timed edition but I'm keeping my expectations in check. A repaint on the sculpt and a better tailored jacket is what this will probably need the most in the end.

I reckon we are all infected one way or another, we just don't know it or do we?

It's close to $300 with tax. Don't own any Mondo figure. Their Creature has been the only figure that kind of tempted me. The discussion here hasn't given me much comfort in the final product.

I’ve been tempted by their Batman figures but I ultimately always decide against them.
