Re: Witch-king / Lord of the Nazgul PF?

l can see the pose. l high lighted his right leg in red and circled his knee cap. you can tell the outline of the leg behind the cloak. the pose is him bracing him self for lifting the mace.

Maybe it would look better if at least his foot was showing. Looks like he might dislocate a hip heave hoing it from that position.

Re: Witch-king / Lord of the Nazgul PF?

Wouldn't you have your oppisite leg forward if you were getting ready to swing that thing?
I'm with ya Ween, I don't get the pose...

it's just the cloak covering his leg. i am sure you could move it out of the way, but if he was bracing him self to lift the mace it should be his right foot positioned out, and his left foot in. they made this to complicated. they should of had him in a relaxed cocky type menacing pose, like the lurtz. but l will still get him. but yes this could of been much better. hopefully he will go cheap on the secondary market.

I agree, based on movie accuracy, the flaming sword makes no sense.

SSC has done that with a number of PF's in the past. The Death Star Obi-Wan PF exclusive is a seeker ball from the Millenium Falcon, Vader comes with a mouse droid he never appeared on screen with, the Theed Hangar Darth Maul PF came with exclusive Sith Probe Droids from Tatooine, and Four Armed Grievous came with a cloak he only wore with two arms.

Re: Witch-king / Lord of the Nazgul PF?

Yeah you gotta remember as someone else stated its a movie and im sure SS took a tiny bit of artistic liberty with this trying to give the most dynamic pose possible making it exciting for buyers. Not everything is going to be perfect I guess. My only complaint was the flame sword...not because of the wrong scene or what not, but just as I said earlier I dont like sculpted fire on anything. I think the overall piece is awesome.

I think you are dead on here. You need to plant your weight on the back foot when lifting something heavy like this. if you try to lift something heavy with your left hand on your left side with your left leg forward the tendency is to be pulled backwards. Maybe this makes him seem that much more all powerful??

I still think the chain needs tension in it. Bring the hand forward and up so that the flail is JUSt about the leave the ground.

Re: Witch-king / Lord of the Nazgul PF?

I have no problem with the flaming sword. You either don't get it or don't use it if you don't like it.

Re: Witch-king / Lord of the Nazgul PF?

Actually to me, that's were it looks the worse. Just give him a little push on the right and it seems he would topple over, what with that leg out in the front and so far over and not being able to see the other one at all.

He's taking a step and heaving that thing around. Putting everything he has into it is what it looks like to me.

Re: Witch-king / Lord of the Nazgul PF?

I desperately want to like it but it just doesn't have the flow or intended menace of the SSW piece. Glad some of you guys are digging it though but my next PF will be the outstanding GTG.:yess:

With the leg angled to the left and the head/neck doing the same, it just looks like his centre of gravity is so far off, he's going to fall over. So I guess we just see it differently.

I really want to see a size comparison of the two as well.

GTG FTW! :rock

Re: Witch-king / Lord of the Nazgul PF?

I like this PF. Not keen on the flaming sword exclusive but I wasn't expecting there to be one.

He is a Wraith. A formless entity given shape by cloth and armour. He spends a lot of time on the ground sniffing about like a spider in the books, so any 'unnatural' kinks, bends or poses add to the spectral notion of what the character is (for me anyway).
Everything about him is supernatural, the use of a Morning Star that seems impossible to lift, the casual pose as he faces Dernhelm as he deems himself invulnerable, the feeling of a fixed stare from an empty helm!
Yes. He was never going to be a sculpters dream, but he was never going to be a detailed piece either so I don't see what the fuss is about :dunno

Great addition to the PF range ..... just need a Merry PF to pair him with :lol

This has all the grace and look of co-ordination of Elaine Benes dancing...
I want to like it, but it is just so whack. I will order, wait for the 360' view and make my mind up, but they really should have just retooled the SSW piece cos that was pretty much perfect.

Re: Witch-king / Lord of the Nazgul PF?

I am really looking forward to ordering this tonight, as I think the in hand results will be amazing. I hope the Witchking sword might be a little bigger, as owning the UC prop it is a huge sword, but I can't wait to see him next to some of the other PFs on my shelf.

Yeah...tonight will play out pretty interestingly I think...may will order just to have it, remains to be seen how many will drop it if the production piece isn't altered at all to fix some of the obvious flaws in pose and scale.

Re: Witch-king / Lord of the Nazgul PF?

Yes, I too will be ordering the ex later today. It's the Morgul Lord PF and has to look better in hand. I'm sure the robe can be moved around to suit each collectors liking, the pose though could have been way better. I agree with others there needs to be some tweaking before this ships. The sword, mace and neck can hopefully be adjusted. Any idea how tall this PF is? I have the SSW statue but he's boxed up right now, how tall is he?

That we do.

Yep, and Sideshow has done that most recently with the Temple of Doom Indy with the chilled Monkey Brains exclusive. But the thing is, that all of those PFS mentioned had exclusives that were "stand alone" pieces".
