Here's a few things I'd do:

-I'd have the [rebooted] film franchise embrace the original mythology showcased in the first four games (I, II, III & Ultimate III).
-I'd give it a heavy R-rating.
-I'd set it in the 90s.
-I'd make it a six-film saga, and have Cary ***unaga helm the first film, Nick Refn the second, Adam Wingard the third, Joseph Kosinski the fourth, Gareth Evans the fifth and James Mangold the sixth and final installment.
-I'd have Cliff Martinez handle the score for all six films.
-I'd cast Armie Hammer as Johnny Cage.
First thing I'd do is ban you from everything MK related. :lol

The original movie is a pretty perfect...well, accurate adaptation of the first game. The cast was great, Goro was an amazing practical effect, and the theme was awesome.

The only weaknesses, the PG rating, some of the fighting is dated, and CGI Reptile. I guess they only had money for Goro :(

I think they should make a movie based on MK9, with Raiden getting a message ("he must win!") from himself from the future, but the film takes place during the first tournament, and it ends with Liu Kang defeating Shan Tsung and Raiden realizing that wasn't the end because he misinterpreted the message, so the next films introduces Shao Khan and it continues the massage from the future story, until it ends in part 3, with....spoiler if you haven't played MK9,
Raiden fighting Shao Khan and realizing that "he must win!" means Shao Khan, so he lets Shao Khan win, and by doing so Khan breaks the realm rules and the elder gods destroy him and restore the earth realm.

Far from it. Very far from it. :lol
Still the best VG to film adaptation.
It was different but in a good way.

They wanted him to be a chameleon.
That's impossible to do with practical FX.

No. No it doesn't. MK has been **** since it left sprites.
Not entirely but yeah.
I still like Quan Chi and Sareena, they'd make good characters in a good adaptation.

Overall new movies should be about characters and mythology.
Havin' good martial arts and FX is a no brainer but both are worthless without good story.

I'd go back to the first game but won't make Liu the focus at first. It'd be more interestin' to introduce him as a secondary character who's pretty much a soldier of the Order of Light, who's only goal in life's to kill Shang Tsung. Exolore his character throught fight scenes and Raiden tellin' a tale of the Great Kung Lao. That way we could have him as Shaolin champion AND someone conflicted with anger (he wants to revenge his ancestor yet blames him for not killin' Tsung 500 years ago).

Quan Chi is great, but I meant more the games themselves. I'd like to see him in a film... but eh, we can't go back to 1995 and have Anderson direct the sequels.

MK was a huge film, but it had a relatively small cast and they didn't focus on the fighters of Shang Tsung which gave more emphasis on the main characters and Shang himself, which was a good thing. Keeping Sub Zero and Scorpion just combatants and nothing more made them more interesting.

I still remember being a little kid and getting so hyped when the theme started and the New Line Cinema logo appears.

It was the only way to go back then.
It also wasn't harmful since the game franchise and fightin' games in general were still in a "they look cool" stage.

Won't work today tho. Which is actually good...
Heck, a Netflix series would be a better option at this point.

Gaming films were in their infancy back then... all we had at that point was what... Super Mario Bros? Oof.

A long running show on Netflix could work... but if they want to make it like those mini webisode things... no... just no. Not everything needs to be so ****ing dark. Even the extreme gore in MK is comical.
