Hey, hey. Just discovered Widgets.

From the Home Screen:

Menu (physical button) > add > Widgets.

Just make sure you have enough room on your screen. You can always use the left or right screens or move something around.

Okay FQ, this is probably a really stupid question, but when you are playing music how do you shut it off? I can pause the songs and go but cant really 'stop' it.

At the top of the screen is a "task bar" you can pull that down and access the controls to the music player. It may depend on which player you are using. If all else fails you could use Advanced Task Killer to just shut down the program. You'll get the hang of it.
