Here is my movie cliche:

The camera is overhead, rain is falling and our hero yells "Noooo" as the camera pulls back.

The question is where did this shot originate? What is the first film this appeared in?

Re: movie chiche's

My cliche is when the character wakes up from a dream......then wakes up from another dream back to back!

I fawking hate that...that doesn't happen in real life...at least not to me =/!

Re: movie chiche's

I always like how movie helicopters are absolutely silent until they are seen coming over the hill or around the building, then they are suddenly louder than heck.

Also, when a character wanders distractedly out into the street mid-conversation and is shockingly hit by an absolutely silent bus or truck driving through town at freeway speeds.

Also, when a hero character is walking away (almost always in slow motion) from a rather large explosion (that they are typically responsible for) and are too cool to even turn around and look at it.

Personally, I hate akward ricochets and random gunshots. You setup this huge evil enterprise and NO ONE can shoot? You cant hold a single shooting class to make sure these people who are protecting you with their lives can actually be worth a damn.

Sometimes that works. It was awesome in Syriana.

When one character is looking outside of a window or something. Then another character comes in and looks at the first character's face with the camera focusing on the 2nd characters.

bleh..hard to describe but I hope you get my meaning.

When a character looks in the mirror, then looks away, and when we see the mirror again there is a scary character lurking in it. Typically a boo-scare noise is added to when we see the lurking character reflected in the background.

I hate when a speeding car hits the back of a parked car and goes flying through the air. And somehow the parked car doesn't move two inches.

When the villain or antagonist gives a long, EVIL monologue that explains every detail of their master plan.

A kiss or teardrop that brings someone back to life.

Take that love conquers all bull**** and stick it up your *** you ****ing carebear.

^ LOL.

Anyway, when the hero and the girl live happly ever after. I'd love to see them go for the kiss, and have a villian just stab her through the mouth.

This one's getting broken more so now, but the little kid surviving.

to me, the most common cliche is this line of dialogue:

"I don't know what you're talking about."

can't these bloody scriptwriters come up with variations on that line?
don't they realize it's been used to death? it's been SO friggin OVERused it's not even funny. positively annoying in fact.

Just to add a twist to this thread - in which movie did you see this type of scene for the very first time?

I think it was Remo Williams for me. There must have been a Charles Bronson flick I've seen prior to this with a similar scene but can't really remember.

Edit - I just remembered Mad Max. I am truly getting old.
