Anyone else here collect movie posters? I got a whole bunch I've yet to frame...actually doing it this week. Was always nervous to take them out of their sleves because some are worth hundreds of dollars now. First on the list is my Incredible Hulk poster, which will be going up behind my 1/2 Hulk. Then Iron man 1 and 2 posters, watchmen, 300,ace ventura, avatar and a few others. Who else collects them, lets see some pics.

I used to collect posters as a kid. I used to go to Jerry Ohlinger's shop in New York City every year (which I guess is still around). I had all original full Star Wars posters, re-release posters for several Marx Bros movies, original Flash Gordon poster, and more. Also full sets of lobby cards and press kits for Star Wars and several other films. When my mother moved to a new house years ago all that stuff was stolen by the movers (except for the Flash Gordon poster, which was in my possession).

The first poster I ever got was Predator 2. Some old video rental store it way back in the day and I bugged the old man to let me have it. I remember walking 10 or so blocks of gang infested neighborhoods to go pick it up. My thing now is getting them signed by the actors to. I have a original Terminator 1 poster signed by Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn.

I have all of the Lord of the Rings Theatrical Posters and a few banners, as well as the theatrical posters for all of Wes Anderson's movies (though I still need to track down a Bottle Rocket poster) and the original Tron and Buckaroo Banzai (folded sadly.) I have a signed Spinal Tap one sheet, but everything is in tubes. When we have more space, I should hope some of these get framed and hung up!!!

Oh, I almost forget, I have a Warner Bros. Store Print of the Iron Giant that is meant to look like a Fritz Lang poster signed by Brad Bird and the artist. This one is framed under plexiglass at this stage, and I will want to reframe under UV Glass.

Heres mine, i have my favourite movie's original definitive 1975 Jaws poster (i am very proud to own it) along with Terminator 2:JD, i have all the Predator and Alien poster locked up and safe too, just thought i'd share the ones i got on display in my room. They need frames though, as i really don't want them to get ruined.

I collect Puzzle posters...Does that count?

I have more including Total recall, Beetlejuice, karate kid, Batman, Batman Returns....

Back to the Future is my favorite though and quite rare...

I'll share.....

They aren't anything special in the sense that they aren't signed by actors, etc. Three I purchased and two I got from video store promos (Pulp Fiction, Interview with the Vampire). I tossed in my framed DT jersey as it's one of the nicest framed items I have in my collection.

BTW, love the puzzle posters man!

I collect more of the artisty, limited movie posters and prints. If you hang out in the Art section there are a couple threads with a lot of those posters. Traditional theatrical release posters never did it for me, even first editions. I do collect some first edition foreign movies however. But I like my posters and prints to be uber low es so they are usually unique to the people who come over.

Thats awesome man, that jaws poster is worth some serious $$$ today..keep it safe. Im having mine made with black aluminium frames and UV protected glass. I was looking for lightboxes to put the posters in for my theater room. But all the lightboxes I've found use high intencity bulbs which will fade the posters over time. Havent found any that use LED's as a light source. When I do I will convert over to lightboxes....it just brings the posters to life.

I get some of mine from a buddie that works at famous players. Im still hitting myself for not asking him to get me the 3D poster print for avatar...which is now selling for this.........:thud:

Poster sites always overprice stuff. I think that poster goes on ebay in the $500.00 to $750.00 range. I have way too many theatrical posters and art print posters. Some of my favorites:

Yes, I have a HUGE movie poster collection, somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 posters, I have been collecting for 27 years, though I have slowed down as of late.

The prizes of my collection include...

A Clockwork Orange
Blade Runner
Star Wars Style A (rolled) - A collector will know how rare an item a rolled Star Wars style A is.
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Pulp Fiction
The two teasers for Lord of the Rings (Frodo looking down and Frodo looking ahead)
Beauty and the Beast
Silence of the Lambs

well so many really.

Sadly, we had a flood recently and my original Matrix poster was destroyed, along with a few less valuable posters. Funny thing was, some of my Star Wars posters were right in the flood zone but were miraculously unharmed. (insert force joke here)

I really need to do a list of all the posters I have, but at last count I was around 350, and that was about 7 years ago.

Rocketeer was such a beautiful poster, they made one titled just "Rocketeer" and then changed it to "The Rocketeer", I was lucky enough to have both versions.

Ya but $500-$700 for a poster is still crazy money for a sheet of paper imo :monkey4

Chris

Yeah, and $150 is alot to spend on a piece of plastic.

To me Movie Posters are not only pop art, but part of cinematic history as well. I have spent quite a bit of money with no regrets on posters over the last 25 years or so.

Same here. I bought my first movie poster "Moon" from Alamo. I love it. Problem is nobody from my part of the world heard of the movie :lol

I need that, badly.
