Movie you are Most Looking Forward to this Summer

My most anticipated summer movie is whichever one will have the first trailer for James Cameron's Avatar. :)

I'm really curious to see how this movie is received by audiences. Supposedly it's going to be the most expensive movie ever made when all is said and done. I have a friend who worked on the production set back when they were recording with all the actors in the motion capture studio. She was really gung ho about it and it sounds pretty cool, but the way she described it made me think that it may not do so well with the general public (the 'Joe Six Packs' of the world, if you will). And you have to believe Cameron knew this going in and didn't care, so that's pretty cool... he's got his vision and wants to see it fulfilled, and he's got the money to do it, so why not? I'm definitely in line to see it when it arrives... does it have a release date yet?

I'm not that hyped about any of this Summer's movies that much...
Of course I'll see Terminator and Transformers, but nothing that has me super excited as previous years...
I'm looking forward to Angels and Demons, Ninja Assassin, and I'm curious about Avatar as well...
We'll see!!

Oh, and the one-sheets for Avatar should have the log line: "Pocahontas... in Space" :lol

Seriously though, I love the Pocahontas story and no one has really presented it very well in film version yet... Disney's Pocahontas was probably the best, and it wasn't that great. It's a very liberal story, and I have a feeling there's gonna be a tree-hugging agenda in Avatar, which is totally cool with me. (Cameron has described it as, "a futuristic tale set on a planet 200 years hence [...] an old-fashioned jungle adventure with an environmental conscience [that] aspires to a mythic level of storytelling.") All the anti-environmentalists out there better prepare their arguments now ;)

One thing for sure, it's gonna be like nothing we've ever seen... whether that's a good thing or a bad thing remains to be determined... I do hope they've improved dramatically on the 3D stuff since Beowulf!

EDIT: not to be picky or split hairs, Dusty, but isn't the tag line generally on posters and the log line used to pitch or explain the plot in a sentence or so?

Stuff like Harry Potter, Star Trek and Wolverine will be lots of fun but I'm not jonesing that hard for feel good formulaic popcorn fluff.

The ones I'm most interested in are Inglorious Basterds, Public Enemies and THE ROAD :rock

Drag me to hell. Been reading some seriously positive things about this movie. Raimi should stick to horror.

If I could only see one film this summer I would pick Public Enemys. I am aslo excited for just about every other film mentioned so far. I have very High expectations for Star Trek and I hope I am not dissapointed... I have low expectations for Terminator and I hope I am surprised!

The movie I'm most looking forward to is The Road (whenever that might be).

Star Trek and Terminator are the only other two I really want to see.

Entertainment Tonight said "this Fall" and imdb says 12/19/09. We'll just have to see. I'm not interested in a preachy enviro-tale but I can't wait to see what kind of action Cameron puts on screen for the first time in the 21st century.

Hey Dusty I am Most looking forward to The Wolf Man (2009) but now I have to wait till NOV.:banghead

Yeah, Wolf Man looks like it could be really awesome! But that's okay for the delay - now I have movies to look forward to in almost every one of the remaining months of the year, which is not normally how it works! :chew

Dusty, I"m with you on Avatar, I'm really excited for that one.

Someone mentioned 9, thats another one I'm really dyin to see. Also with an almost oddly similar feel, the live action FRANKLYN.

The trailer for Franklyn looks really cool, I'm looking forward to that one too.
I only hope it gets a proper cinema release in my country, which I doubt at this moment, because I couldn't find a release date... And if there's any it's probably only in selected theatres somewhere far away :(

Besides Franklyn, I'm really looking forward to Transformers 2 and Terminator Salvation
