I wanted to start a thread where we can talk about and recommend music to each other. I'm a huge music fan and try to listen to at least one CD a day. I really want to hear what you guys like.

I like to hear a variety of music, but my favorite band are Depeche Mode, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, A perfect circle, Taproot, Dj Tiesto, etc, etc

I like to balance out a little heaven and a little hell.

I'll give anything a chance. I seek diversity in my musical tastes; though, I couldn't tell you what's hot right now.

I like to use music to help me a achieve a certain mood or state. I may put in something heavy when I need to vent or workout. When I want to chill I'll put on something to relax me. If I'm feeling creative I'll put in whatever will help me achieve the result I'm looking for.

Jack Johnsons song are Soooooo great!!! Kind of soft rock...

Other I listen to and can really recommend are: Arctic Monkeys (Their best song IMO is "a Certain Romance") Matt Costa, Joe Purdy, Bullets and Octane - Pirates

Well, thats a few of them :d

I'm an odd person but I listen to soundtracks and orchestral music. Also there's a new genre called Cinematic Rock, which would include E.S. Posthumus' album called Unearthed. Basically it's music that sounds like rock mixed with movie trailer music. There's also an album by Globus called Epicon which is pretty good and there's also Requiem for a Tower which is an album based on the track remix that was used for the LOTR The Two Towers trailer. There's also the music of X-Ray Dog (funny name) that I believe they have one album available called Dog Eat Dog which has some really good songs. They are the company that does trailer music for most of the movie trailers (POTC, King Kong, LOTR) you should check out their new releases at their site: https://www.x-raydogmusic.com and although they have like 28 albums they don't sell them, they are sent to movie studios who choose which tracks to use in a trailer and then pay for the rights so the only people that can get them are people working for movie studios. But what can be heard is pretty good.

I listen to everything...literally....I'll listen to anything from Pantera, Beatles, Keith Urban, Bob Marley, Paul Oakenfold, The Doors, Ludacris, Bob Dylan, BB King, Ray Charles, & even some classical. My main music of choice is rock though...

At the moment I'm listening to The Killers 'Sam's Town' - saw them last Saturday in Nottingham, very cool. Definitely my album of the year, followed closely by Thom Yorke's solo album 'Eraser'.

Like others here I like what I like - Beatles to Slayer, Nine Inch Nails to Damien Rice. Rock usually wins out eventually - my most loved and listened to album of all time has to be Nirvana's 'In Utero'. Bought on it's day of release, I've listened and emotionally connected with that album more than any other.

Looking forward to the new Artic Monkeys and Radiohead offerings in 2007, and being completely blown away by the unknown :)

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Weezer, old and new.... Also HIM, The Killers, Incubus, The White Stripes, CKY, Millencolin, Reel Big Fish, Green Day, Weird Al, Nirvana, STP, Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, AFI, My Chemical Romance, Staind.....So many more.. it would take me all day to list them...

I listen to a lot of Rock and almost nothing else. I do sometimes get a urge to listen to some classic rock, classical or soundtracks.... Sometimes a comedy CD... Richard Pryor, Dane Cook, Eddie Murphy, George Carlin...

I drive 2 hours back and forth to work, so I get plenty of time to listen to my music. I also listen as I paint..... So it's a huge part of my life.

good topic;

Actually everyday I can write the best song of that day for me.

I am a Turkish guy working in Russia - living with a Russian girlfriend and my manager is Scottish. Therefore I can say that I listen a real big variety of
music types :D

today's favorite for me is: Gregorian - Sarah Brightman - the Moment of peace

Tool, Mastodon, Clutch, Terry Reid, Lustmord, Local H .... long list

but I listen to evrything except for contemporary country :monkey4 & the majority of hip hop.

The Aviator soundtrack gets alot of play too. Love soundtracks

.... and I LOVE the new Tom Waits

William Shatner "Transformed Man"
Wolfmother "Wolfmother"
Andrew W.K. - ANYTHING
Raveonettes - ALSO ANYTHING
Satyricon - "I Diabolical"
5.6.7.8'S ANYTHING

That's mainly it right now, of course I could go on, but what's the point jam those all at maximum volume.

I'm all about the PUNK ROCK! Punk and Ska pretty much dominate what I listen to. Bands like, Rancid, Suicide Machines, Catch 22, Big D and the Kids Table, Bouncing Souls, Ramones, Misfits, just to name a few.

I was brought up on AC/DC so I also like them and other good rock bands (too bad there haven't been any for about 10 years). And My Chemical Romance is my guilty pleasure, but I liked them before anyone knew who they were so I don't feel that guilty about it.

I was raised on Bach, Mozart and Wagner (though my parents). My older brothers all listened to KISS, The Police, Kansas, Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Black Flag, The Clash, Depeche Mode, and pretty much all your 80's punk phenoms. My brothers were all in bands of various types of music. They were heavily involved in the local punk scene (which if you have seen the movie SLC Punk, you would know what I am talking about).

That being said I have very wide tastes.

At the moment I am listening to Sean Lennon's new album Friendly Fire. (check out the video for Dead Meat by clicking here.

I would also highly reccomend this hidden treasure you can't buy anywhere (unless you'd rather spend your PF money on an out of print CDor record). Don't judge it till you hear it.

I am also rediscovering my love for Nirvana (especially Bleach and In Utero. albums I have not listened to for awhile).

I also like Gillian Welch, Elliott Smith, Billie Holiday, Etta James, The Ronnettes, The The, Syd Barrett, Toy Dolls, The Damned, Mud Honey, The Descendents, Ane Brun, Cat Power, Cecilia Bartoli, Brian Wilson, etc...

But my top faves are:

1. The Beatles and The Beach Boys
2. Tom Waits
3. Flaming Lips
4. Radiohead
5. Pink Floyd

There it is. :rock

Man, am i the only hip-hop fan in here :monkey2 I listen toalmost everything hip-hop except stuff like Nelly, Diddy, G-Unot and down south crunk :nono

Wu-Tang Clan :rock
Nas
Outkast
Notorious B.I.G.
Jay-Z
Marvin Gaye
Aaliyah
John Legend
Alicia Keys

I also listen to some Johnny Cash and The Beatles.
