My 1st comic-con is coming up very soon, it's gonna be the Chicago Comic-Con from August 11-14. I've never been to a maajor comic-con so Im not sure what to expect. My more important question, however, is whether or not there will be sellers there or stands, where I could buy some 1/6 figures for example Hot Toys figures like war machine, or iron man, or maybe even the joker. I've never been to one so I don't know exactly what to expect

Never been and don't plan to ever be around that many nerds, but from what I've seen: pee before you get there, bring bottle water and hand sanitizer.

There might be a few places that sell Hot Toys and maybe some Sideshow stuff, but they'll probably be marked up pretty high. In my experience, the Chicago Comic-Con, which used to be Wizard World Chicago, has really gone downhill in the past few years unfortunately.

I've only been to Wizard's 'Miami Comic-Con' and I really wasn't impressed. Size-wise, I wasn't impressed with the turn-out, despite all of the buzz. It just seemed to really lack presence. But then again, A LOT of comic-influenced conventions are lacking that nowadays, IMO. The only one that still packs a 'punch' IMO is SDCC. Not saying the others aren't not worth going to, but after awhile, you start to say 'meh.' I've been to about 10 or so and some of my favorites were the first ones I ever went to.

As far as advice, Hunter, there will be lots of venders. It'll be hit or miss on whether you find one selling HTs. I personally don't buy anything while I'm there because of the high prices like Boba mentioned. I've been to numerous conventions, both large and small, and HTs has never had a large presence with vendors. Unless you're talking about SDCC or Ani-Con, I don't think you'll find much in terms of sales, BUT that doesn't mean you should try and look. There will always be a surprise or two.

Best advice: Have a strategy. Don't just wonder around. You'll get nothing accomplished. I've wasted A LOT of time doing that. :lol This being your first Comic-Con, I do think you'll have a blast. It's definitely a rush. I hope I didn't discourage you any. It wasn't my intention. I'll be headed to one in a few months, so as you can tell, I haven't stopped any!

pffft.....comic cons. there's nothing to see there that you can't see on this board. and there's nothing to buy at a better deal than ebay. it's just a bunch of sweaty nerds with spock ears and overweight women wearing slave leia costumes. i'd just stay home.

Typically the best day to buy stuff is the last day, because the exhibitors will put most of their stuff on sale. Typically because they don't want to have to pack it up and lug it back to their shop/home or they are just trying to make money to cover the costs of the convention.

That being said, if you wait until the end some of the convention exclusives may be taken, so you'll probably want to check their website or the exhibiting companies websites to see what exclusives they will be having there.

This convention will be nowhere near the size of SDCC, so don't expect to see all the statues and toys that you see in the pictures from SDCC. There'll most likely be toy shops there selling statues and stuff, and most will still be in the box with very few actually being displayed. These conventions are typically a good place to meet and actually talk to artists (unlike SDCC where they are pretty busy being surrounded by fans wanting sketches and autographs) and typically I see better quality sketches coming out of the smaller conventions (smaller meaning anything smaller than SDCC).

Check the schedule online for panels, perhaps they will be discussing something that you want to hear about. There will be some celebrities there so you may want to check for signing schedules/panels to find out when and where those events are taking place.

Once you have your list of exclusives, artists, celebrities, and panels that you want to purchase/see/attend then start piecing together a schedule that will fit all of those as best as possible. If you are going to be attending the preview night (if they offer one) then that is usually the best time to quickly check out the exclusives and get a general idea where everything is. From there, just try to follow your schedule and if you have downtime walk around and see what is happening and take pics, possibly talk more with some of your favorite artists.

Typically the days start getting gradually worse. Usually Saturdays are the busiest for conventions. Sundays seem to be more of a family day and usually have more kid friendly programming.

Not sure what else to say. Just make it your own and don't kill yourself trying to get to everything. It's not always possible to get to it all.

Good luck and enjoy!!

The better Chicago show ostensibly c2e2. NYCCC is good too but nothing compares to SDCC. All wizard shows are weak.

Patrick Stewart will be there. Very cool.

Bruce Campbell is going to be there and a bunch of Evil Dead cast for a round table thing. That should be a riot. Def go to that.

There's a sh-t ton of comic artists. List They do commission drawings and such. It's always nice to add some original art to the collection.

Have fun and try to not go broke.
