Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Waiting on some materials to arrive Friday.........I think I've taken all the pix I can reveal until the big reveal.

Sowwy.

I bought a new Macro lens to photograph everything :) 105mm Sigma.

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

I posted the first pics as I was doing them [1st foam piece] on Halloween......so that makes 6 months in about 10-11 days :thud:

Some days were like 8-12 hours put in, and then some weeks nothing got done [vacation]. I'd say I averaged 2-3 hours a day maybe :huh

Thanks :)

Thanks! I'm going to film it, yes. I do audio/video at my church too, so I have some experience there. And yes, I'll submit it to SS once done.

I have some materials arriving Friday, according to tracking, so I may have it 100% completed Saturday, and begin filming :panic: :panic:

I finished reading this entire thread just now; hadn't seen it before
today. Craig, you've done an amazing job! It's incredible & the attention
to detail there is fantastic! :)

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Hi Craig,
First, awesome job! The concept, the attention to detail and the execution are all pulling together Marvelously. It's also evident that you have been having a blast with this build, which is probably the most important part. Kudos to your wife by the way for supporting your hobby time! I'm gathering steam to start a display of my own and was thinking about a problem you've already run into. Wiring Iron Man. You mentioned using a SOAP kit. Might I inquire what that is?
Congrats on what is already an awesome display. Looking forward to the big reveal!!!

That has to be an epic read....wow. :p Props and thanks! :hi5:

Thanks! Hopefully over the weekend, depending on how long video takes to edit. :)

SOAP Studios has a wiring kit......very very thin wires attached to battery sized inserts. Those connect to a central power supply, and then you power the whole thing off electricity. Works great :)

Make sure you buy the right wiring kit for your particular figure(s). Also, the wall wart is not included, you can get them from Radio Shack etc, but I save the hassle and just buy theirs from SOAP.

4:20 he shows you device, how it looks/works:

You have to pick the angle to hide the wires, usually straight down the back. If you do it right, you barely see them, if at all.

Nice and subtle 420 reference on 4/20!
Happy 420!

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Thanks for the info on the SOAP kit! AWESOME! will make life much easier!

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

I figured there was a good chance it was just coincidence, but I couldn't help myself. It would only add to enjoyment of your diorama though!

Re: Build progress on my custom Avengers Diorama

Is it weird to say that I love that trash can? That is a great trash can.

Today was painting some 'steel' beams, and pipes, and so forth. Added some finer rock debris to floor. Probably 97-98% done on diorama itself.

Thanks! Digging this new lens. It's great for scale photography. I really need to test drive it some more, see what all it can do :)
