I started on the weathering last night. It looks a little heavy handed to me, but I'm going to collaborate with a pal of mine tomorrow and see if it can't be saved, or if it has to be base coated again. If so, I'm going to learn by my mistake and basecoat silver, mask off sections and then put on my main color. That was my original intention until I found myself on a night schedule with nothing to mask irregular blobs with....

Weathering something that large is so tough. I love it so much.. can you pop a wee dollie in the shot so we can really get a feel for the scale. And your work shop looks fantastic!!!! More pics please!!!!

That is a thing of beauty. The paint really takes it home. Congrats on a great build.

It's a mild swear word from underpants or knickers
Like" that's pants" or just "pants!!!"
As opposed to " sh@t" etc

I still think it would be a good idea to have a thread where the UK guys teach us yanks to swear with some style.

Here's a full sized shot when it was flat white and migrating through the house.

Thats the only wee dollie shot I can find. I'll take a proper one along with some update pics later this evening . I'm pretty much knackered right now. I spent the day putting up Christmas lights on the eaves, so I don't have to risk life and limb after the snow flies. I think I'll go grab a nap meanwhile.
Just to prove I finish something occasionally, look at these:

Top stuff, although Star Trek has all but been removed from my brain by squashing to much other info in it I have a big soft spot for 1960-70 sci-fi and the insane set designs like on Star Trek. And I chuffin LOVE YOUR stuff really really cool

Nice vaporator!

This on my list of things to make... someday!

I'll use yours and Darth_IMPoor's for inspiration when I finally make the leap.

VERY cool Star Trek stuff.

nice paintwork..........:clap

and that star trek barbie at her console is sure to give any ken doll wood.............:lecture

Thanks for the kindness, fellas....
I'm not sure what that Barbie and her console are doing. All the Trek stuff was comission for a gent in Ohio. He actually switched scales in the middle of the project, so the command console is 1:6 and the Kirk chair and Spocks console at 1:9, sized for the old Mego dolls.
Oddly enough, I posted them once a couple of years back on the Mego collectors board and got a very poor reception, one that I had "stolen the design" of the kirk chair from a dude who makes them out of paper covered priority mail boxes and secondly that I obviously don't know whats what as I said I used styrene (which they informed me was a type of plastic) rather than styrofoam. So, I never went back. It flashed me back to Eddie Izzard doing his bit about the Queen going "You're a plumber...?... What on Earrrrrth is that????"
Absolutely no progress on 1:6 the last couple of days due to tragedy on my roof (lights didn't meet HRH Cortneys specifications and had to be redone) and the trials and tribulations of Thanksgiving dinner with my brothers and some nieces (Dear Jesus, I'm thankful this meal is done....:gah:) Sooooooo..... critique this fellow:

AHHH sounds like a nightmare!! As for the other forum... hummm I know some I used to look at seemed so harsh and very unfriendly!!! Some times some folks get way too serious about all this... at the end of the day we are fully grow adults dressing up dollies... how can that be serious???? for me this is such fun, I love it so much.

As for the lights on your roof... well may I suggest holding the ladder whilst HRH gets her buttocks up there and sorts it out!

Your pilot is looking grand, are you gonna work on the vest. I can not get my head round those vests. I have tried to redo a few but I just get all needles and thumbs. I use some I found on ebay. they are not perfect but I like em. I will try to find a link if you want one.

Now get yourself a turkey and stuffing sandwich and get painting that Varorator!!!

I've actually resewn the vest once, making it narrower, but evidently I need more work! Send the link, or if its online here, I can dig around your post to see what you used.
I suggest the bit about the ladder and sorting it herself in the future. If I end up in the ER, you owe me a pint.:rotfl

nahh I think I just cut it down a bit.

Your pilot is looking good so far. Here is what I am trying on my vests, webbing. I am having to use a couple pieces and glue them together, but the chestbox hides all the seams.

I still need to get the edges sorted out, but I like the looks so far. I used to use cut down Hasbro vests, but I find they are still too big.

If you need anymore help, please ask. I am still looking at other alternatives for the vests myself. Hope this gives you some other ideas.

Pilot's looking good, bjones! You do have to try and get rid of those Dragon gloves though :rotfl How can he fire photon torpedos with those dinky-ass thumbs. Maybe if you promise to name a kid after Mark, he can cast up some Praji gloves for you. I'm using SS Brotherhood cavalry gauntlets painted black and I'm happy with them. I believe they are slightly wider.

I'm open to ideas for the vest too short of making Bill make 1000 of them until an official release. I'm cutting 3 ribs off the bottom of the Hasbro ones on each side and cutting the edges the width of the seam. I'm covering the edges with cloth tape, like you'd use to tape on a finger splint or something. It's very flexible, just tacky enough to hold stuff together, and it doesn't look bad at all. It's not a professional solution (I tend to try things on the cheap first), but it works. Not sure if this should be in the Pilots thread or not, but here my Luke.
