He fell and broke his arm a few inches above the elbow--it was just hanging there looking funky. Spent some time in the hospital this past weekend. The break was severe enough that the local hospital wouldn't touch it and they sent us via ambulance to a specialist at the central cal children's hospital. The pain was intense but they finally gave him a morphine iv and he calmed down quite a bit. (He is now really into Miles Davis.) Had surgery Saturday night and he has pins sticking out of his arms that go down into his bones. The swelling has gone down enough for him to finally get his cast tomorrow.

He's going to have a hard time opening all of his Christmas presents with one hand, lol.

Didn't get a picture from the best angle, but this should give you the idea:

I hope nothing too exciting happened around here while I was otherwise occupied!!

I feel ya, about 2 years ago my then 6 year old boy fell on our trampline wrong and broke his femmer. he spent 3 months in a body cast. I had to carry him everywhere. It was tough. He spent easter in it and we bought a red wagon to tote him around when we went out in public. Needless to say we don't have the trampoline anymore. :lol The joys of parenthood-:rotfl:rotfl

That sounds rough! My son will get off relatively easy with an arm cast. They said they can give him one that glows in the dark.

Ow, that looks like it really hurt. Must have caused a lot of damage to get pins put in. I remember when I broke my arm, one of the two forearm bones (can't remember specifically if it was the radius or the ulna) hurt really bad, had a cast for a while then it turned out that it wasn't growing back together right and they had to break it again and reset it (I was unconscious for that).

Breaking bones sucks, he was probably doing well if he was standing there with it bent like that, I would be trying to hold it straight

I worked on a spinal cord unit and took care of more than 1 quadraplegic who broke their neck on trampolines. I won't let my kids near one.

At least your boy will be home for Christmas Tom. Whatever you do, don't let him scratch inside the cast with anything. It's a breeding ground for infection with open abrasions.

Right before Christmas!?!?! That sucks!

They said they can give him one that glows in the dark.

Despite the pain and discomfort of braking his arm the fact that part of him glows in the dark now even artificially and for the time being is ^^^^ing awesome. Sliver lining....silver lining....

Damn that looks painful!! Dude is a trooper to be somewhat ok after THAT!! I hope he recovers quickly, definitely tell him that the Freaks are all praying for his swift regeneration! :duff

:google Ewwww :yuck

Fell over. Yeah right. Once you become a mod the dark side takes control. :emperor We all know that Humpty was pushed.

It's okay Tom, for you know not what you do. Expect a letter from the Child Protection Agency shortly into the New Year. Of course, any impending action can be negated by the doubling of gifts to the maimed, over this festive season.

Wishing your son a speedy recovery and I hope his cast doesn't keep him up at night.

Sorry to hear about that Tom-- at least it'll be a Christmas that he'll never forget.

Ouch Poor guy, hope he gets better soon.Spoil him with gifts and he will have a good christmas:)
