You have to understand the context of what makes this a fav. I am recovering from surgery and looking for some escapist fun. Shawshank does not cut it in that context.:D

If you're looking for some escapist fun, check out the seasons of Scrubs. Whenever I am feeling down, I can just watch a couple of episodes and it makes me feel better.

The Office(British and American versions) and Arrested Development are BIG winners for me too. Really, really fun TV!

HEY!

Well c'mon it's FF4! I am not trying to be rude. I am attacking a crap movie.. dr2red seems like a very nice intelligent person (see how that isn't being rude) who most likely confused FF4 with another movie.

btw Transformers movie is a bit different... I was saying you can't attack a movie you haven't seen yet. I seen FF4! Transformers may very well suck.

And how am I rude again for trying to make the girl realize how awful FF4 is?! I am trying to help her out! Cause I care.

Protect me!

An important distinction between these two movies is that one director had a love of the source while the other one (goes by the name of Michael Bay) has admitted that he knew next to nothing when taking the project on and he hasn't really gone into a great deal of trouble to research the original G1 that was so beloved.

FF4 was what it had to be. An introduction of the characters to both the learned and the newbie--- family conflict and setting up the larger stories to come. With the Silver Surfer and Galactus I think it's obvious that that's the direction it's headed.

The Transformers will be a wham bam type of Michael Bay movie experience--- but it'd be better if they went by the title Go-Bots or Big Honkin' Robot Movie. I unfortunately encountered what I hoped was not the script. Then the trailers came out---- it's the script. I won't spoil things here--- let's just say take every used action movie cliche and pepper it with big Robots and things that go boom and you've got the movie. It'll be worth the price of admission and maybe a small popcorn. Us 30+ yr olds who grew up with G1 know however that it will not be what we had hoped a big screen version of Tranformers COULD have been...

But enough dueling of movie critics--- hope you're recuperating well Red and that the snow that I've been shoveling here hasn't made its way to you.

Wonderfalls! Whimsical, whacky, and wonderful!

Read all about it!

Get well soon, dr2red!

Anymore recommendations for series TV on DVD? Looking to be hooked.

I currently have 5 shows that I watch every week, and they are all addicting. You've probably seen most of these, but they are quality.

1. Lost
2. 24
3. The Sopranos
4. Entourage
5. Curb Your Enthusiasm

Arrested Development is also VERY funny and addicting, and it shows twice a week on HDNet. They just started with the pilot episode a few weeks ago, and show 2 new episodes every Wednesday. It's an old show, but it "feels" new to me due to the way that they are airing all of the episodes in order- two at at time.

I'm really looking forward to Heroes and Battlestar Galactica when they hit HD-DVD this fall. I've never seen either, and it should be an awesome experience.

The miniseries and first two seasons of Battlestar Galactica are available right now. Heroes is completely addictive--- and unlike other episodic shows it actually gets better with each episode as the layers of the onion are peeled back and the secrets begin to be revealed. They're my favorite two shows on tv...

Neil, one thing you have to come to realize about me is I am a kid at heart, like pretty much anyone on here. Hello! Toy and statue forum! hehe

But you seem like you're having fun too, but yeah my point is, like the FF4 movie, before it comes out, reserve your judgement. hehe

Anyway, enough of that. Please don't tell me the snow will make its way to central/western Canada.

btw Neil, hockey fan?

I don't take anything on here serious--- That's why I pop on here.:D
My judgement is reserved for Transformers--- I'm sure I'll love it as a Michael Bay movie... as a fan of the G1 though, from what I've seen, I'm not very optimistic.

Snow flies east my friend---- but it's already starting to melt-- and I'm a Habs fan so hockey stopped existing for me Saturday night around 10:30pm Atlantic time... of course I did love the end of the Islanders' game this evening:D . Join us on the golf course Leafs.

True enough. Although that fate was thanks in due part because of one Marty Broduer not manning the pipes for the Devils. Scotty Clemmenson probably forgot what a puck even looked like starring at the crowd on endless nights.

And we all know it doesn't matter who made it of those two teams, because whoever finishes in 8th place has to face Buffalo in the first round, and we all know that they would have made short work of any team coming their way.

Thanks for the suggestions! I thought the first DVD series of battlestar galactica which included the miniseries and 1st season were fairly good, but the 2nd season blew the first season away.

How is House? I hear Dr. Who is also quite a series?
