Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance in "Shining" and Randle McMurphy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".

Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow.

All due respect to the late Heath Ledger, I think that it's better left said that Jack Nicholson was born to be The Joker, not Heath Ledger. Ledger was a very talented actor who put on an unforgettable performance as the character( Ranking as the best Joker in all of the Batman films and TV series combined). However, Jack is the Joker 24/7, what you see in the film is how he is in real life(well not as over the top), but I believe,

Jack Nicholson was born to be The Joker

There's no doubt about it!

I also think that these can be agreed on....

Sir, Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi
Liam Neeson as Oskar Schindler
Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones
Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone
Al Pacino as Tony Montana

Chris Sarandon as Jerry Dandrige
Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector
Christopher Lee as Dracula
Robert DeNiro as Travis Bickle

Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman
Sylvestor Stallone as Rocky
Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker
Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly
Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown

Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump

For some reason I think the Shining or One Flew Over the Cuckoos nest were Jack's roles, the Joker was just convenient for him I think. It was Jack acting Caesar Romero acting Joker doing an impersonation of Jack. Not that it was bad, it's one of my favorite performances of all time, but I think Heath really owned the Joker role, I wouldn't say he was born to play it though I think Ennis had more depth to him and really was Ledger at his height, the Joker was him coming into his own after that I think and really showing us his potential for character acting.

but anyways, Michael Ironside as Darryl Revok.

See that is exactly the problem with Jack's Joker. It's Jack playing Jack, not The Joker. It's the same cool, dangerous goofball Jack Nicholson persona, either dialed up or dialed back a touch, he brings to the table in tons of films, from Easy Rider to Cuckoo's Nest to The Shining to Batman to The Departed. He does it well, just as Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, etc play the same persona over and over. It's the difference between actors and movie stars. Jack is good no doubt as Joker but he rarely disappears into a role the way a Heath Ledger or Gary Oldman does.

Yeah, Gary Oldman born to be everything he plays!

Amazing Actor of his time.

He was terrifying as Count Dracula, and he was wonderfully charasmatic as Drexyl Spivey in True Romance, amazing as Stansfield in Leon, and he's great as Gordon in the Batman movies. He's so great of an actor I didn't even know he was that chewed up nemesis of Hannibal Lector in HANNIBAL, when I found out I was like, what!?!?

Same here. Oldman was great as Mason Verger.
