Yeah, what is it with smaller, cheaper scales getting better head sculpts than the high end stuff? You would think the big high end companies would totally and 100% nail the face and heads of the characters with all their tech and master sculptors, but there's always something off, yet some good smaller scale figures, i.e: Neca DC stuff (or most of their licenses), Figuarts SW etc etc, outshine them in that regard.

I used to have war with some people here when I made statements like this. NECA don't always get it right - their Kyle Reese is a bit iffy as are their Ripley sculpts - but otherwise I agree with you. They are capable of superior likenesses than high-end companies.

This Ledger Joker is a nice figure, but it's no where close to the DX 11, or DX 01, or Bank Robber, or BR 2.0. This little guy looks like a monkey in comparison, not to mention he has $20 paint apps on his face. Let's not be too hasty!

For a 7" figure priced at $19.99 though, it is superb. I really dig him. I wish we had this back in 2008 instead of Mattel's movie masters figure.

Man, I can't wait for mine to ship! (I've pretty much given up any hope on finding these at TRU.)

I'm more of a DC guy anyways, but imagine if NECA struck a similar deal with Disney/Marvel and released 7" versions of their 1/4th figures with DVDs. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and the upcoming Hulk in 7" would make Marvel Legends look like nothing in comparison.

Never was there a truer case of ''be careful what you wish for'' than when we were all wondering why Hot Toys wasn't making Marvel figures pre-2008. Lets not repeat that mistake I say. **** Marvel.

Yeah, **** Marvel.

I like that this is a special event NECA is doing with their WB/DC line. It's like a holiday thing. The fact that the day everyone found out about them is the day they went up for sale is really cool and as much a surprise as owning the figures themselves.

I'm waiting until I find him at Toys R Us. I'm not dropping $45 on a figure when it's available for $19.99. I made that mistake last year with Keaton Batman, buying him from their eBay store. Then shortly after we found out it would be at Toys R Us, then TRU.com and Gohastings got them well into February.

Besides, seeing these in stores is part of the charm.

So, Reeve hasn't officially come out, right?
Not yet I guess, checked today and no superman other than the heroclix.

Are DC vehicles within the realms of possible releases for NECA?

Man, imagine a Tumbler, 89 Batmobile, Batpod...

Hell, I'll even buy the ugly Bat!
First off, I like the bat I don't think it's ugly it's a engineering work of art. Of course it's your opinion so it's cool.
Second no I don't think Neca can make vehicles for dc characters. If Neca can make vehicles for batman; it would be the size of if not bigger than the animated series batmobile and as awesome as that sounds that is too much space I don't have on my shelf.

I think the smaller scale and looser paint apps give more room for your brain to fill in the gaps. With stuff like Hot Toys, Enterbay, etc the casting quality, fine details and paint are so inhumanly perfect at this point - coupled with the larger scale - it makes even the smallest issues with a likeness stand out like a sore thumb.

That's not to take anything away from NECA, though, they do have some extremely good sculptors working for them.

I'd possibly buy a NECA sized Batwing to have it represented in the collection, given how impossible a 1:6 Hot Toys version would be. Although I suppose NECA wouldn't make one for its respective scale and market for the same reasons Hot Toys wouldn't make it for theirs.

I don't see NECA doing a Batmobile or Batwing, it's not like they do vehicles. Well, I mean they did that Predator speeder thing, Power loader and ED-209 (not really a vehicle, but you know).

Then again, I never thought I'd see a Keaton Batman from them, let alone 7" DC film characters. You just never know.

I'm telling you guys, I bet NECA gets The Bat, the Cat and the Penguin in both scales before Hot Toys, and Hot Toys had a ****ing three year head start! This 1/4 to 7" thing has a lot of potential.

Not really, even Hasbro from time to time has better sculpts, when you take the ****** factory paint job and see them in glorious custom paint, you realize the sculpts are in fact more accurate than the Hot Toys or Sideshows.

Casting and small details aside, I'm talking pure likeness.

And it's not like Neca or SHF sculpts are small to begin with, they're regular sized sculpts and then they shrink them.

The most recent example was SS Darth Maul, it's packed with a retarded amount of detail and an immaculate paint job, yet, it doesn't quite look like Ray Park, but when you see the SHF one, that is Ray Park dead on.

Well, I myself wouldn't have said such a thing until recently.

Please don't remind me what Hasbro does with Gentle Giant sculpts, it's too painful :monkey4

Those SHF Star Wars figures are amazing.

We haven't gotten a clear shot of Han Solo yet, but it would surprise me if it has the best likeness to Harrison Ford on a mass produced figure to date.

They're pretty much nailing all of their lines, it's pretty remarkable, and the quality is there, I think I've only see one broken Luke in these boards.

I'm trying not to break down and get back into Star Wars, but their Bruce Lee and Freddie Mercury figures are must-haves for me.

Speaking of high-quality smaller figures, I'm waiting anxiously to see what Mezco's One:12 Keaton Batman looks like. Rumour is they haven't been able to show it anywhere because they can't get hold of Keaton to clear the likeness rights.

I've been collecting their Iron Man and Kinnikuman figures, don't have a single complaint. Bandai's Iron Man Mk VI, even with its accuracy issues, is my favourite Iron Man figure by far.
