they're both sculpted by the same guy, by the way. kyle worked at mcfarlane before getting his gig at neca.

That is only partially true, as Kyle was taken off the Alien and Predator MM5 boxed set before he could finish it. It was given over to other sculptors who changed the prototype's significantly.

Even unfinished, it was a beauty. I remember making such a fuss over at the McFarlane boards when the final 2-ups were shown that I almost got banned.
But I was really pissed off at the changes made to the alien.

Mcfarlane has a 3rd version of the original Predator you forgot to mention. IT was a phasing one that was half stealth and half painted. I think it was an exclusive for some store. Forgot which store it was.

It wasn't a 3rd one, they made the regular 12" sculpt, and the Musicland exclusive de-cloaking version. There was never a completely cloaked version of the original 12" sculpt. The 7" original version had the unmasked, roaring version that came with the Alien/Predator 2-pack, the unmasked cloaked CC exclusive and the masked that was part of the Alien/Predator re-paint series.

The stealth cloaked Celtic and P1 are really great looking figures.

how can you tell? they're cloaked! i think they're made out of some kind of space-age clear plastic so there's no way to see them.

seriously though, "cloaked" predator figures are garbage. it's a cheap way to squeeze a few more $$ out of a mold and they always look terrible. clear plastic usually looks white or blue and eventually turns piss-yellow. i never got the appeal of owning those things. if you want an actual cloaked pred figure, just leave an empty spot on the shelf and pretend it's there instead of encouraging toy manufacturers to make more of those things.

I still have my cloaked Celtic and P1 in their packaging. The AVP blue on the packaging makes Celtic look cool and the green on P1's packaging is nice too.

Seriously. Doesn't look anything like a stealthed Predator. "well, we can't actually make it look like a stealthed Predator.." Then why make it in the first place?

I had all of those, AVP series 1 with cloaked celtic, a lot of regular series, monster series and every Steelers figure, but sold all that garbage. McF turned all their attention to HALO and was using the same sculpts over and over again on their SPs (like on the AVP and P2 figs).

I'm anti-McF now. I got kicked off that board for life because I thought I was just playing with the HALO geeks, and they said I was inciting a flame war. One time I got warned for obscene language for calling Tony Romo Tony ____, but was funny was the moderator who sent the warning had a Cowboys logo as his avatar. Freaking hypocritical jag-offs.

I stopped posting there along time ago. Popped back briefly but McF is all Halo now. Their new Walking Dead figures don't look like the old McF figures either.

I just wanted to clean house to make room for HT and SSC stuff. Was just majorly disappointed with the path McF decided o take. One thing I did like about their board was a dedicated sports section. They can do that with the amount of sports fans they reel in with their SP series. Here, there's no dedicated sports lines, so there's one thread for each sport. The NFL thread is fun during the season.
