I'm very tempted to get this awesome kit: https://www.jonestation.com/hb.htm

It just looks so damn cool. :drool

Here's my concern - I have never put a kit together before. Is it fairly simple to do? I'm up for a challenge but I don't want to get in over my head either.

Thanks for reading. :duff

I have base skills and I have been able to do a few kits. The hellboy one looks a bit complicated. If I were to do it, I would buy a lesser kit first and work out the kinks first.

Thanks for responding. :) That's a good idea. I would hate to mess up the Hellboy kit while I try to figure this out.

Very brave Jen. I have also thought about trying my hands at a kit. Seems tricky though:sick

I started with model kits before I moved to the 1/6 world. I would say first off, how much painting have you done? I think getting the basic techniques and skills for small scale painting is a must. Its very easy to ruin a kit with a poor paint job. However if you are confident in your skills or you're okay with the talent you have then by all means I would say go for it! After all, it is for you and if you are okay with the end result then the sky is the limit.

Now I'm not saying that this is a bad paint job but, just to show my point here is the same figure by 2 different painters

Also there is no rule saying you cant go back and repaint the kit once you have developed your skill. I hope my 2 cents helps ya.

Hell I think I might have to get this kit, its bad ass.

Thanks! I repainted my Hellboy Mindzeye statue:

I had a lot of fun repainting it and was pleased with the outcome. I guess that has given me a bit of confidence in trying my hand at putting together this kit.

I guess what I am most concerned with is putting it together. :lol

That looks awesome. Just be prepared to do a lot of initial cutting and gluing with the vinyl kits. And ditto on the paint. But best way to learn is just by doing, so if it's something that interests you jump on it.

Thanks! I think I'm just going to go for it. Nothing ventured....nothing gained, they say. :D

The Hellboy kit is resin - not sure if that will make it easier or harder to put together compared to a vinyl kit. :dunno

18 pieces and it could be fairly straightforward or hella complicated, really depending on how the kit is broken down and how it's cast. It may need mild to heavy puttying, sanding or perhaps even pinning, esp that big bottom demon dude.

That said, GO FOR IT Jen! Should be a lot of fun to tackle. :rock

Well I ordered it. :D Here's hoping that it falls into the fairly straightforward category. :duff

You will have to keep us updated!

For things such as mold lines, there are little sandpaper sticks you can buy. It makes it so much easier

never done a kit apart from when i was a kid but that hellboy looks great and a lot of fun. i've be interested in how it turns out. turn it into a step by step/tutorial along the way or at least so we can see how it goes.

Thanks for all the tips and link everyone. :D

And thanks GB! I'm excited to get this! :woo

I will definitely post progress shots once I get started.
