Wow, it would be bye-bye Frodo if I had that piece.

I'm really hooked on the 1/4 series (SW and LOTR) right now, so I think I might be selling the majority of my Weta collection. You could sell the Weta Frodo and buy 2 of the 1/4 versions.

hmm

interesting...

That auction gives me cause to think.

I think I'll stick with the Weta stuff because they're much to scale with eachother except the odd item. But it's tempting to sell, if there are going to be at least 20-30 premium format items.

Yeah Nemo, I'm thinking that's around the range(20-30) that they will be making. Probably closer to 20 though.

LOL Unique! :wacky

That is quite a price, esp considering the size of this piece --- hmmmm, but for me it is more a matter of patience. It will be quite a while before we see the entire Fellowship in the PF, I would assume at least 2 1/2 years. :google

If I had the Weta Frodo, I would have sold it long ago, especially at that price.

After seeing the Orc pics of Lurtz and Aragorn, I'd prefer Frodo in those formats.

I have him and I'm keeping him. $100 direct from Sideshow. Nice return on your money if you are someone who decides to sell though.

I have sold off all of my Weta pieces that might potentially be made into PF while the iron was hot. Got some really good money from it probably enough to cover pretty much the whole LOTR PF line that I plan to buy......

Rat pack that I am, I am keeping everything. Duplicates in different formats don't bother me.

All my sideshow weta LOTR bits and pieces {92ish} will sit in their boxes in my loft until the time comes in the distant future when i have the right place and way to display them in all there glory.
Gems they are, all of em and i'm not selling any.
I read somewhere that SideShow is gonna crank out a few of the PF 1/4's a year so i'm gonna sit back and buy them as they come safe in the knowledge my other collection is sleeping near me. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Man, I'm real tempted to list my frodo. Anybody have an idea how much an eight-toed frodo can fetch? (I got a little hungry one night)

I'm not surprised about the price, I like Weta better too. The PF wont hold there value like the WETA stuff. Edition will be too high. The WETA line will rise back to fame if or when they do the hobbit and make the polystone for the movie.

I sold mine for $500 when both Frodo and Merry were getting that much on ebay.

It's an ok piece but $500!??!

No brainer since a better PF 1/4 piece is coming out soon. My opinion of course since I know some prefer WETA.

I just can't see how someone can say that something that doesnt even exist yet is better than something we've already got!
At least these new lines are revealing who the true Weta collectors are ;)

Both the PF line and Weta line are great or are going to be great. The Weta line is very special because they helped bring LOTR to life. As a LOTR fan I'm glad to have the ability to have both versions that are really both fantastic. :D

I am a LORD OF THE RINGS collector.

Exactly!! It makes the SSW items a tad special because they brought the book to life but I will always be a LOTR collector first and foremost.
