READ ABOUT IT HERE

Very categorized now, it certainly gives potential buyers a more thorough description of what the transaction was like.

What do you all think about this?

this could be a good thing or a bad thing. I have a feeling people will start blaming sellers for stupid shipping company faults.

It's giving buyers more leverage, as if they didn't already have enough with Paypal.

Not only that, but some buyers might be put off at the prospect of having to list so much information. I say that tongue-in-cheek, but there are a LOT of lazy eBayers out there.

Yes there are. As of now, I've left 4738 feedbacks, and have received only 3640 towards myself.

But yea, this new feedback is neat on paper, but sellers will be nitpicked to death.

I think a way better option would be to allow for more characters to be typed out in the feedback box. This way, if you do have a certain discrepancy with a part of the transaction, at least you can talk about it in the feedback.

IMO, Positive, Neutral, and Negative feedback options are fine enough.

i totally agree. that woulda been better. this way sellers are gonna be blamed for tiny/anal things. i don't sell much at all and i'm glad now.

I'm not too thrilled with the part for shipping/handling costs line. I mean, if I charge $8 for shipping/handling, what is going to keep someone from thinking they are getting screwed and put a low rank for that. What one person feels is fine, another may not. I think it leaves a little too much to interpretation, and that is one section that could doom a seller.

Not looking forward to this for all the reasons mentioned here. Nit picky buyers and too much trouble to leave feed back which is already a problem for most people on ebay.
They should leave well enough alone. Three choices of feedback is enough. More room for descriptive feedback(if needed) is a much better idea as mentioned by nash.

Well this should be fun. I really do not have a problem with the customer being able to give detailed feedback and I am sure it will be an optional feature for the buyer. As it is hard enough to get some to leaveback at all. If it is optional though you know that the majority of the detailed feedback your going to get left for sellers with the new system will be bad. At least I know that would be the only reason I would use it because I just don't want to have to spend more time then I have to leaving feedback.

This is probably ebays way of addressing the list something for 2 dollars with $80 for S & H. I see this kind of thing all the time where the shipping is unreasonably higher than it should be and the item price is lower than it should be. When its all figured it probably the same price as all the other auctions. They are just hoping to catch someone not looking at the shipping price as well as dodge a chunk of ebay fees.

Exactly. Exactly. Exactly.

I'm afraid that it will get too crazy, people will nit pick EVERYTHING. I'm with you? What's up with people who never leave feedback?

It drives me absolutely NUTS! I almost ALWAYS ship my items the very next day after payment is made, and give my best with buyers. It isn't too hard to at least leave a short feedback in return. I also NEVER leave feedback until I have received some first - as a seller it is just too risky.

They need to have a system that both parties have to leave feedback before they are listed on the page. So if I leave a + it will go into "limbo" until the other person leave it and if they never do then they don't get my feedback.

And the new system is going to be a mess.

I always leave feedback the moment the item ships. I figure if they paid right away and everything was fine they get the feedback when it ships from me because I am done with the order 99% of the time at that point. I have always done it this way and still have a 99.9% positive feedback. It's gone well for me I have left 4140 feedback and recieved 3174 with only 3 negatives.

I agree with you in principle Bob, and I know a lot of eBayers resent the "feedback hostage-takers;" I guess I am just cautious, and maybe to my own blame. There have been more than a few buyers though, that AFTER I sent their items decided the shipping speed wasn't adequate or they wanted their items double-boxed - of course I was helpless to do anything at that point. I only left feedback for them once they gave me the appropriate rating.

I had one guy leave me feedback 4 months after I shipped the item. He left me positive feedback and "item shipped superfast" comment!

I'm with jimmyjames when it comes to feedback. I leave it after I ship their items. The only time I don't is if they are very, very new to ebay, they live out of the U.S.(due to shipping time) or something in their feedback indicates that they leave nit picky negatives for good sellers.
