Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Ironic that it's being sold in the UK, but the US price is cheaper than the UK price.

Simple economics, If you follow thew prices of most figures the international price is always favourable to the Yankee dollar! Tis why I've always been shrewd and got to know Asian sellers... that's were most stuff is made, so getting shipped once from the point of manufacture can make a lot of sense. Put your deerstalker on and get busy!

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Wow, now that's a real nice looking figure. I'm not really in to Dr Who but congrats to all who are because if I was, my money would be down on this now already. Nice to see another new company come along like Blitzway & impress us 1/6 collectors. I know this is only the Proto but I have that same feeling with Big Chief like I did with Blitzway that they won't disappoint once released :)

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I'm definately in for the Signature edition!
Now bring on Amy! :)

Looks worryingly good, doesn't it. :D

The whole figure feels very natural, and just right for his build. The price is around what I was expecting really considering whats gone into this, and the fact we're not dealing with a big company here.

Mine! :yess::clap

If the production piece is that good then BigChief Studios will have hit the scene with a mighty impressive debut that demands notice be paid.

I've signed up for notification on the signature edition. Pricey? Yes, but if the final quality is there, then worth it to me. After all, I'm always happy to pay for real quality.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

We are currently in discussion with several US retailers, with whom we hope to firm up deals with shortly.
We are mindful of the conversion to US $ and taking into account UK VAT against US sales tax, duty etc, we have a different MRSP in the states of $199.99 (ex sales tax).
However, if you are interested in the Signature Edition please note that this is exclusive to BIG Chief Studios and is available only via our website at the UK price as stated.
Thanks for all your great comments!

You guys will be taking international orders for the signature edition then, I take it? I'm Australian by the way, so just wanted to make sure I'll actually be able to order direct. Thanks. :dance

Just make sure the production piece looks this good. Cheers.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Yes! :exactly:
Anyone but Donna please!

It won't be Rose, so that leaves Donna or Martha.

Personally I couldn't care less because I wouldn't spend £1.50 on anything from the RTD era, let alone £150 but plenty of people will so if they're released next it'll ensure continued good sales and above all else get those characters out the way so that the ones I'd actually want to buy could be made.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

What Big Chief should do is send a set of Matt Smith & Karen G. figures to Billie Piper and convince her that this would be a quality limited edition product for collectors. As I recall her problem was with mass market action figures in every toy store.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Wish I knew if they take my money at pre-order or shipping.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

This is a Photo Manip i did to show what the series 6 coat would look like on the figure! :)

Big Chief maybe you could offer this coat with one of the companion figures, more people might be inclined to buy the companions if you include more accessories or clothing for the Doctor with them.

The actual coat isn't THAT green, mind you. They used brown fabric which appears a very dark green in certain light.

Whoops i should correct that:slap, you see i was using a pic of Matt's navy version of that coat that he has for himself and I had to make it green myself.

Edit: Better now?

I've seen the actual prop and it's such a weird fabric, it's like.. a brown fabric with greenish threads which come out in certain lighting. Heard it was a custom made colour. If BC makes the coat I hope they can replicate that fabric. But anyway I do agree on adding accessories with the companions, coat and stetson (sculpted to fit on top of the hair, not just like a bowl we usually see) with Amy, fez and mop with Rory and tuxedo with Sonic Cane with River.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I really think they need to do 10 next. Not because he's my favourite (I like Tennant, but he's nowhere near my favourite), but simply because he's the most widespread popular incarnation these days, and if we want this line to continue and be successful, especially at a high end price point (something Who collectibles have always struggled with) then you really need to launch it with a few big hitters first, to draw in as many punters as possible.

As such, launching it with the current Doctor, then doing Doctor #10, and then Tom Baker's Doctor #4 (maybe with K-9?) would seem like the safest bet to me. Then move on to Pertwee's Doctor #3, Troughton's Doctor #2, Eccleston's #9, and so on, and by that stage hopefully you have a strong collectors base who have turned completist and want the full line up, even if some of the older Docs aren't quite as widespread popular these days, generally speaking. In other words, draw collectors in so that they'll also collect Doctors they otherwise might not have bothered with to begin with.

Bringing the quality is only half the battle, you also have to find and capture the market, or else it is all for nought. Big Chief's next few decisions are going to be crucial in this area...

Cool, thanks for answering.

Any idea yet of a rough timeframe when this will be going up for order?

Even though I wish 10 and everything from his era would be eliminated from the official continuity I have to agree.

Doctors 11, 10 & 4 with a companion each are the only realistic choices at this point in time when it comes to guaranteed good sales.

Anyone else is a risk.
