Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I had the pleasure of visiting the Big Chief HQ today :)

All I can say is you Doctor Who fans are in for a real treat!

The level of detail and effort that is being put into this line is phenomenal!!!

Keep it up guys :clap

All I care about is a Fez Doctor - my favourite Who outfit ever. Does anyone think 11 might get parted out so I can get an extra head and do a custom?

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I'd be curious if they are down the road with River - would a survey of our favorite River costume be worthwhile?

(I vote for The Pandorica Opens)

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I agree with Dave. The 5 inch figure is Pandorica River and it's the costume I associate most with her.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Agreed with Dave and Pix. When I think River, I think Pandorica.

Or if they keep with the Series 6 theme, the jeans outfit.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Am I the only person who thinks "Old Amy" was cool? Worth a prototype at least.

But I wonder how many people would spend 200 bucks on a River Song figure? Definitely don't want the line to die off due to Big Chief making figures that most fans would not want to buy. I am wondering how the Amy Pond figures are going sell compared to the 11th Doctor. Personally, I have the Doctor ordered but not Amy.

I am certainly ordering Amy, but I agree that after her, the line should swerve towards monsters or past Doctors. (preferably past Doctors)

To be honest, I'd be more likely to buy River over Amy.

To be honest though, do you think there would be enough interest to justify the cost of making a River? I really don't know, but I know I wouldn't buy it for 200.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

It's hard to say. I actually think River is pretty popular. I don't think she's that less popular than Amy herself, really as she's been around longer.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I know it probably won't happen, but I would also buy figures with the space suits seen in "Silence in the Library."

I customized a 2001 Space Odyssey space suit and used a skull head and LEDs. When I made it, I just wanted a skull in a space suit. Then it reminded me of the Vash+a Nerada.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Big Chief still haven't even managed to sell out of the signature edition of the Matt Smith Doctor yet, and the overall response for Amy Pond seems even more lukewarm thus far (the fact that the character may not even still be on the show by the time the figure hits probably won't help any either), so personally I don't think they should wander too far away from incarnations of The Doctor to begin with.

Make the pieces that are pretty much guaranteed to do at least reasonably well to start with, establish a loyal customer base, and then branch out later as the situation and sales allows. Otherwise I fear it'll be yet another attempt at high end Who items destined to meet a premature end...

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I really think The Weeping Angel won't do very well unless it's extremely limited.

Ten and Four should do well though, probably better than Smith.

I whole heartedly agree with you. :exactly: :lecture :exactly::lecture

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

The only figures I'll buy are rose Tyler and the 10th doctor. I really really want those. I just don't buy a lot of figures.

Wow. That's bad. I wasn't expecting the normal one to sell out but I thought the Signature edition would all sell.

I'd love this line to succeed, BUT IT WON'T. Sorry, but that's just how it is - and it certainly won't succeed the way they're going about it. Starting with Eleven makes commercial sense but the price is £50 beyond what people feel comfortable spending in this climate. It's just too deluxe with too many accessories - maybe in 2006 a figure like this might have sold but now everyone's more worried about money. £99 for the figure, stand and sonic screwdriver would have worked.

Doing Amy next is pure stupidity. What they should have done next is Tom Baker and then variations thereof; if they were going to do companions they should have limited it to Sarah Jane, Leela and K9. As for monsters, it's not hard - daleks and cybermen, duh! No one's ever done a dalek in proper 1:6 scale so that would have been a first and something to shout about. A Genesis Dalek to start, then an Invasion Cyberman. And then more daleks to provide a reliable revenue stream. Then the doctors - someone who doesn't normally buy 1:6 figures will always have a favourite doctor they'll shell out for. And that's all the life there is in this line. The current Doctor, previous Doctors, and the all time fan favourite companions and monsters. And that would have been more than enough. Unless the figure after Amy is the Fourth Doctor, then the line will end at three figures.

Here we go... the subjective "know it all" viewpoint. I am sorry but I would not have bought 11 without Amy and I am sure that Big Chief
have a well researched business plan. The super geeks may only want to buy doctors 3. 4 10 & 11 and no companions, because they don't like buying girly dollies, but some of us will buy each Doc only if he has his companion. They are integral to the story. Please do try to be objective, Big Chief are trying to please a lot of people, NOT JUST YOU! Give them a chance! Oh and I think (subjectively) that Tennant's 10 is a whole lot more popular than Number 4!
