Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!
Following on from ink's post, guys please seriously play nice. Everyone's entitled to an opinion. Believe us it is very hard for us to read many of the posts and not reply. But at the risk of the thread turning into a bun fight, we refrain from doing so. Forums are wonderful places for people with similar passions and interests to share their thoughts and opinions, but all to often threads become havens for "he (or she) who shouts the loudest".
To clear a few things up:
Expansion Packs - this is a new/old idea that we hope will prove successful and will offer collectors the opportunity to purchase additional costumes and accessories at lower costs than purchasing a whole new figure, for what would otherwise be relatively minor changes. eBay sellers have been breaking down figures for a while now and selling the component parts separately, so we hope fans will embrace the options. Over time there will be a number of packs.
Toy Fair prototypes - in hindsight we should have only displayed the prototypes on day one, the only day we could attend. The figures were being very kindly displayed for us by a friend. Unfortunately when the figures were put on display the following day, they were not posed correctly.
Paint ops - bear in mind that the heads are resin, not PVC cast out in a base flesh colour with tones added. That said the prototypes have been beautifully hand painted and when photographed under proper lighting, or held in hand, look stunningly life-like.
Jacket - the prototype is wearing one of our first working sample jackets. This was sewn from a special inkjet fabric on to which the correctly scaled tweed pattern was printed. This fabric paper is very tricky to work with and is not colour consistent. It also rubs off with constant handling, hence why there are areas where the print has worn away. Rest assured the final product will be the correct colour and of a quality that collectors have come to expect.
Amy Pond - we are working on final product shots right now and will be posting these very soon. Her jacket is just breathtaking. The detailing is fantastic. Just wait until you see the correctly scaled zips.
Packaging - mock-up packaging was on display, not final. As a new company we know that it is important for our customers to be able to see the figures straight away, hence why we have chosen to proceed with a window pack. Hot Toys produce some of he very best packaging for their products, but then they have been established for a good while longer than us and we are all to well aware of their quality, they have nothing to prove. We do period. It is important that people can see the quality of our products just by opening the front flap. That said we will be utilising matt laminate finishing with foil blocked logos and product titles. Our packs will be of a high quality and in time, once everyone is aware of our product, we will look at alternative pack designs.
As always we thank you for your support. We are working flat out to make the best product that we can. All we ask is that you give us the chance to do just that.
