My gawd you guys complain a lot. :lol

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

That was a really nice update. Good to know where we stand, anyway. I wonder how long it'll be before 10 and 4 actually reach us after the pre-order?

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

actually saw this figure on the shelf in a shop on the weekend.
Nice figure, I liked it.
...not enough to buy it, but it was definitely acceptable....

Real news....

From BCS own site via an FB link

Also, full message posted on FB too.

Thanks for this.

There's a few things here. First, this message rings true for me. What they say about the original vendor who made the first female body sounds 100% true. Chinese factories are a nightmare to deal with. There is nothing they won't change on a whim or because they feel they have previously undiscovered design talents which deserve to be put to use on your lovingly crafted product. You have to stand over them to get it right. The early years of the Character Options Doctor Who range were plagued wth vendor issues. I remember hearing that the Chinese drove Al Dewar to distraction and once they apparently redesigned the head of one of the CO 12" figures (the Cyber leader I believe). And that was a large company making figures in their millions. Hot Toys are so good because they literally speak the same language a the factory. Even Hasbro sometimes posts stuff int heir Star Wars q & a's about how a vendor changed the design of a lightsabre without asking them and won't tell them why. And that's Hasbro!

Second, it seems to me that BCS has the love to make great figures but they need a more aggressive marketing strategy. They were hoping to raise funds by selling plenty of Amy figures but Amy is never going to sell out. They're going int he right direction with 10 and 4, the most popular doctors, and I hope they keep that sales focus - anything that won't sell, please, ditch it and stay alive. And make some 1/6 daleks, no one has EVER done this!

Third, it really does seem like these guys are painfully honest.

Fourth, giving away the art print to boost sales of 11 is a big mistake - it does feel like a kick in the teeth for early buyers. Why not a 48 hour period in which anyone who buys 11 gets 10% off 10?

And fifth, you need a spokesman because communication is not your greatest strength! Someone to update people on a weekly not bi-monthly basis and ensure its not feast or famine with the information, someone with some kind of PR or journalistic background. I'd do it for free or get someone better than me to do it (but don't let anyone do it who's asking for free figures in return!). But please do it! Silence for a company is like rust to an engine, it creeps in and buggers things up.

It's hard not to when it comes to this company :dunno It's like saying people complained too much in regards to the Men in Black release by Enterbay. If anything it's impossible to complain too much about these things because they certainly warrant the complaints.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Hm. I agree that they need someone to act as spokesman, not just because they need to keep their customers updated, but they need to think what they say and how they say it. I am not sure that telling the world you have a cashflow problem is the best approach if you are shortly going to be asking for pre-order payments. It's not sympathy they should be looking for at this stage, it is confidence. It all sounds rather precarious.

I agree with this. I can see why they feel obligated to get Amy out, since people have pre-ordered and Karen has signed stuff, but really, they shouldn't delay releasing another Doctor because of this. Daleks would net a small fortune for them too, I'm sure. Companions should be a risk they take much further down the line.

Agreed in full.

Also if they are looking for a quick sales cash injection then they really should get a 1:6 scale Dalek on the agenda as soon as possible, as with all of the various (legitimate) colour variants, and small sculpting variants they could use the same basic sculpt for, not to mention the army builder nature of Daleks to begin with, that would just be a license to print money, just so long as it wasn't crazy expensive.

Hell, if the price isn't over the top (and we're talking sculpted forms with minimal articulation here, not fully articulate bodies with detailed head sculpts, so it shouldn't be anywhere near the price of a regular figure) then make a Dalek subscription, and release a new Dalek variant every couple of months or so for a year, something to keep the line bubbling along between regular releases. Of course people could buy each Dalek as it was released normally as well. Though perhaps there would be a subscription only bonus Dalek, just to encourage people to sub, and also as a thank you for those supporting the company at a base level. Just a random thought anyhow.

If they are pinning the future of the line's hopes on Amy then I fear for the future, I really do, as even if the body is perfected, and the head sculpt was spot on, I still don't think they will ever sell high numbers of her, particularly at this price range.

They really should focus on The Doctors, with an odd peppering in of key/popular monsters, at least until they are on stable financial ground and can actually afford to try for the riskier character selections, doing so at a time when failure to sell won't potentially send them out of business.

So, I guess the new bottom line is Amy is delayed until at least April. (6 more months) :(

Nope Mr. Niceman. :hi5:

(unless by "ironic" you mean "enormously entertained by the sense of entitlement and wrong doing I am reading")

Complaining about too much complaining isn't ironic? Okey doke! :wave

If you wanna see that as complaining, okie doke. Fortunately I am past that. By all means keep it up. :D
