great minds and all that bud! i have the predator blu-ray and i actually think it has a pretty beautiful picture. the jungle really looks amazing. there is some grain (same for first blood) but this is the original film itself rather than from any transfer problems. blade runner is another movie that just looks simply beautiful on blu-ray. some of these old movies are good, and others have been fobbed off as quick 'HD' releases. i think T2 is another bad one. the crow too. need to wait till the studios get their butts in gear with these and rerelease them.

thats what I was thinking. Wheter to just wait for rereleases.

To me it feels to quick for all the 80s ( 70s ) flicks to be coming out on blu ray. I have a feeling I could buy them all now and then have them re released in a few years even better quality and having to buy them all again !. :horror
I mean lets face it , were buying these to have the best picture and sound.

Will this madness ever stop !?. :horror:rotfl

I have it on Blu-Ray too,all Blu-Rays is better than a dvd,but some have a better picture than others.

a lot of these don't come with any extras either, which is really shocking. predator has nothing. so yeah, i bet they'll be rereleased sometime. how many times did T2 and predator get rereleased on DVD? lots. i'm waiting for a die hard collection to come out too. as much as i'd love to buy and watch them now, you know a better version of each will come in the collection once with a vengeance is released.

I was watchingg bid tv ( god knows why ) when they were trying to sell this big predator bust with dvds in and for half the show the woman selling it was calling it the terminator. :horror:rotfl
I think it was because she seen arnie on the clip. :D:rotfl

I have the Shining on HD DVD and the picture quality is OUTSTANDING. It is insane what they did to it. The Bluray version has the same transfer. But don't take it from me, here is a review from the one site I go to for all my high def reviews:

https://bluray.highdefdigest.com/325/shining1980.html

good to see the pictue quality so close to 5 stars. The picture always matters most to me. Sounds great but I can't get surround or anything in my flat or old grannies will be knocking me out with there walking sticks !. :horror:lol

:lol:lol hey come on man! we ALL watch bid tv. it takes a big man to admit to it though. i like watching it too for all the amazingly clueless people there are on there (and because they're directly after the kids channels which i'm ashamed to admit i like to watch while i eat my cereal - better than watching depressing news to start your day!). i've never seen anything cool like a pred bust though.

This thread is creeping over to page 2 so I thought i'd bump it with this wonderful painting.........................

:horror

If someone is on this forum and hasn't seen this movie they've been living in a cave all their lives. :rotfl I need to get this on dvd! "All work and no play...." That fig is bad ^^^! me want

does it look much better, vor-man? i have some blu-rays that just look naff. escape from new york actually looks worse on blu-ray - just a lot of edge enhancement to give the illusion of sharpness. everything looks like its a cardboard cutout.

is this difference big from dvd Roy ?. I really thought about ordering it last week but after hearing the predator blu-ray conversion sucked I stopped ordering late 70s and 80s flicks. :lol

O.K. heres my 2 cents chaps :D Is that a proper friendly word towards the English? Anyway I will start by saying this first, exterior daytime shots are ALWAYS better and phenominal on Blu Ray whereas some to most night shots are kinda average imo.

The Shining is STUNNING on Blu Ray, I promise you guys its a MUST on Blu Ray and its not just the picture but the sound is sweet too! Expecially the opening credits (My favorite part of the Shining believe it or not) the mountain shots are just great.

You MUST get this on Blu Ray if you are a big fan of The Shining. I also noticed someone mentioning that the older 70's and 80's films are the ones to steer away from? No way! Every single older film on Blu Ray has been amazing with Terminator as the only acception.

I'm sure there are many older films that have not made much of a difference but i've had a great experience. Like Edward Scissorhands for example, UNREAL on Blu Ray, especially the sound! :horror

That is good to hear. Will have to pick it up. Thanks for the info. Do you happen to have Clockwork Orange on blu too? Looks good?

Got an email today from ABC that it should be shipping in 1-2 days, Not sure if it's a "template" response or not. Anyone else get the email?

When I got my blu-ray in October the first thing I did was rent Cars, Transformers, and The Shining to get a variety of films to see what exactly the Blu-ray could do. Cars is amazing. 3-D animation is meant to be viewed in blu-ray as far as I am concerned. Transformers was good too, but not as amazing as I thought it would be.

But I was blown away by the Shining! It looked just as crisp and clear as Transformers, and this film is 30 or so years older! The opening is amazing and one of my favorite parts as well (love that music).

It really sets the mood doesn't it? Its almost too decieving with all the beautiful scenery with the mountains and blue skys. The opening was meant to be decieving to the audience. Decieving in a way that you think something good is waiting at the end of his long journey. Brilliant film!

Just an AWESOME film! And yes The Shining on Blu-Ray is so kick ass its not even funny guys! I don't know about your areas but The Shining on BR has been available for like $16 a while now. Not expensive at all.
