To all you model fans out there. I made the leap from figure models to collectible action figures and now to Premium Format figures/statues. Ironically, I stopped collecting models because the prices were outrageous and where do I end up, collecting PF that are more expensive! Anyway, back to the point, I recall a model of Bruce measuring about 24" a few years ago. Just Bruce on stilts, no crane. Anybody here remember seeing it?

Yep, I remember that one as well in some of the modeling mags. Was it possibly carried by Monsters In Motion at one time?

I'm hoping for something similar to the Graboid maquette with Bruce coming out of the water.

I would bet the one you guys are thinking of is the kit produced by MBP (Michael Burnett Productions). It's discontinued now, but was a cool kit. And the magazine article you're thinking of, oddly enough, was a painting article done by our own Tom Gilliland back in the day. :peace

p.s. I must be the only one who would LOVE some 1/6 or 1/4 characters from Jaws. I realize I'm in the minority there, but Quint, Hooper, and the Chief are as iconic as it gets in my opinion. I'd love them to adorn my shelf in some form or another.

Andy!

You are definately not in the minority here! I would kill for 1/6 or 1/4 JAWS figures! Maybe more than prequal Star Wars figures, etc. I wish Sideshow had the likeness license so that you could take a crack at them!

Not at all. In fact, I'm more disappointed that there are NO 1:6 figures of those classic characters going to be offered. They have plenty of appeal and possibilities. A shark? well...thats about as useful as a graboid without Fred Ward or Kevin Bacon [or Michael Gross if we must]

Oh, don't get me wrong.... I'm extremely excited about the shark too. That's another thing I've been wanting for years, I'm ecstatic that it's coming to fruition. :banana

But I definitely wish the actor licenses were attainable, those would be a blast. And I highly agree Rugby, I'd take the cast of Jaws over anyone from the SW prequels any day.

If someone wants to build me a 1/6 scale Orca in exchange for those 3 headsculpts, you know where to reach me.... :D

No way man. I would buy all 3 main characters as 1/4 pieces. Think about it: you don't even SEE the shark (except for the one brief shot in the "pond") until the end of the film. The movie is a Hitchcock-type thriller where Spielberg relies on the fact that your imagination of the monster will probably be worse than anything he could ever put on screen.

As a child of the 80's, Jaws was probably my #1 most watched movie, even ahead of the Star Wars trilogy. I literally wore out our VHS taped copy off of HBO. I used to watch Jaws, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi over and over. I've probably seen it over 100 times.

Edit: Post #2,000!

I just may have to get a 1/4 Quint commissioned to go with the shark.:naughty

Now that was funny, Andy...:naughty

It truly is a shame that the actors won't be depicted. I would have loved to have gotten 12" figures of Brody, Hooper and Quint. Heck, Sideshow could have given us others such as Mayor Vaughn, Deputy Hendricks, Ellen Brody, Alex Kitner w/raft, Ben Gardner's head, Quint's mate w/dog, etc... :naughty

As for the possible 24" shark, I'm truly curious how it will be depicted. I've got a feeling it could be similiar to the MBP version.

No problem.... I've only got Hooper done so far --

It will be hard to make the others as good as this one, but I'll do my best....

That is funny....I was using a spare Brent for Hooper until my interest in it faded.
And please take note... "I" was not the one to bastardize this thread with any mention of ....him. :D

Andy - how about these for starters, gear included...

Yeah, I've seen those.... Very cool! Whoever did those did a great job, all the way down to the sneakers. I'd love to see someone do a dio with all 3 of them sitting inside the Orca, with Quint telling his story about the Indianapolis... :)

I'd like a figure of Hooper. I've always liked Richard Dreyfuss - 'Jaws', 'Close Encounters', 'Tin Men', 'Mr. Holland's Opus', 'Stand by Me' are a few of my favourites that he's been in.

He always makes me laugh but not in a comedy role. He just seems funny. Where is he now?

PsychoCenobite

Thanks, Andy. I made them. They're a little rough but its the best I could do with what's available for bashing. Your announcement last week about a Jaws item almost gave me a heartattack. That's why I finally posted these guys here and on OSW. Finally some 1/6 scale interest in one of the greatest movies ever. Anyway, thanks for the nod of approval. Coming from you, that is quite a compliment!

And your sculpts ROCK! Especially the Star Wars figures. I plan to get every one of them (so far 4 for 4 with exclusives).

My most sincere admiration,
G

I hope they make Jaws figs one day , I don't give a hoot if they don't get likeness rights as I'd prob buy em anyway if they're decent ;)
