What were they going for on Amazon?

It feels sort of like holding a fuzzy kitten. Maybe it's made from cat hair? lol. It weighs around 2 pounds and feels like a solid little chunk when you pick it up. I was surprised that his wrists and feet also swivel. I figured his hands would just go up and down with the arms. The neck has good articulation also.

I decided to stick him back in the box until I can find a permanent dust-free home. Hopefully that will happen soon. I have a shelf in mind but need some sort of cover.

He was $500.
I couldn't find one on Ebay any cheaper either. All were the Santa versions
going over $600 or more and all in Japan.I'm happy :yess::)

There are a few Santa versions available on eBay for around $400 shipped.

I have a feeling after they're all sold from Japan the price will go even higher like the Jun Planning 19" stripe (the brown version). I watched that item for a while and it wasn't a fast seller until they were gone. Then everyone wanted them.

I had one in an unopened box that I sold on eBay a couple years ago for $220 when I needed some extra cash. Now I see them without the box and damaged going for around $500. It's really not that impressive in person since you can see seams on its face where it was put together and the teeth/gums don't look so hot IMO, but I wish I held onto it a little longer. I could have at least doubled my money.

Is there a replica of the box he came in,in the first movie?
That would be one cool way to display him!

I remember some Gizmo from Japan that came in a replica box years ago. It wasn't an exact replica of the movie box but it still looked cool. The Gizmo was nothing like this though...Gizmo replicas that sell for even more don't look this spot-on. The custom-made ones etc. just haven't come close. The custom-made ones I've looked at over the years look just that. "Made". You can see flaws in the fur and paint here and there. This one is nearly flawless in my eyes, especially when you hold it in your hands, and I'm very picky.

I'm surprised that more manufacturers don't jump on things like this. There is a market and money to be made. The collectibles we get from manufacturers in general are mediocre at best. I was blown away by this Gizmo but that's extremely rare for me. I can usually find so many flaws in a collectible that it's just "meh". I'm happy to own this Gizmo and will treasure it for years.

I really want Lenny, Daffy, and George. Hopefully Medicom will explore the other characters and not just stop at Gizmo.

Correction about the weight. Without the box and Santa suit he weighs a little over 1 1/4 pounds.

Nice pics, SEF! I like that little display case. I wouldn't let mine that close to water though...

Just wondering. Does anyone else's Gizmo smell like fresh mushrooms?

Maybe mushroom isn't exactly the smell, but that's the closest thing I can compare it to. It just has a weird smell to me. I guess that wears off after it's been out of the package for a while. Maybe I should stop sniffing him? lol

And from what I see so far, after reading through this thread and looking at various pics, the Santa version is indeed identical to the original after you take the coat off (it's only secured by velcro...comes off in seconds). Even the box is the same, but they stuck a "Santa Gizmo" sticker on it and a new UPC code sticker over the old one. You can see the original Gizmo number under the sticker.
