I'm going to dress up and pretend I'm a superhero while I use it. I have my doubts about playing games with it, they show him playing Half-Life 2 but I don't know how well it's going to work.

Looks like it could have it's uses, but it'll never replace the mouse for gaming. Holding your hand/hands up in the air like that would tire out your arms.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. What's wrong with a mouse anyways? :dunno

Very negative way to look at it. And this actually perpetuates a stereotype about gamers.

A device like this would help you build strength and stamina in your arms so that over time, you would not fatigue while using it.

An added benefit.

I'm not talking about gamers. I use a computer for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I don't want to hold my hands up that long all day.

Holy moly. I see people doing far...far...far more strenuous activity all day long than that.

Good lord. My utter astonishment that there are people in the world who think holding their arms in front of them between breaks and lunch for a work day is huge!

I watch guys standing next to large diameter pipes with their welding leads held out in front of them for most of the day, only putting it down to pick up the heavier grinder to finish the weld before moving on to the next one...

and I am pretty sure that holding my arms out in front of me with empty hands all day would be easier.

And I am thinking that if that wore me out...I could move my monitor and my LEAP back far enough on my desk to rest my elbows on the desk and still properly utilize the device.

LOL...C'mon, guys.:)

Not sure what you do all day, but if you've ever worked at a desk you'd understand how tedious on your body it can actually be. Mind you, I'm not comparing it to some construction type job, but its not exactly harmless to your body. In particular when you sit in a chair and do certain motions you obviously aren't using your legs for support or you back properly.

If you sat in a chair with your arms held out for hours on end consistently your back, neck and shoulders would be ____ed up.

I have done both. I guess I would have to try the LEAP all day or watch someone else do it to be certain. But it seems pretty easy to me.

If you had to do this constantly, I could see the problems with it. If you were just using it as another tool, then that would be different.

Darth, hold our arms out and twittle your fingers for 5 minutes straight and see if you don't feel it in your shoulders. I did.

In ten years of teaching in computer labs, my experience is that the mouse is a terrible device for most sustained computer-related tasks. Graphics tablets are far superior in terms of ergonomics. This device has a sensory field around it, which presumably, could be calibrated to the user's specifications, and also to the specific software engaged with. In that case, I'm not sure whether using this device would entail forever having one's arm outstretched.

As does porn.
