What's really funny is that alot of the biggest names in sculpting started sculpting garage kits and were hired by the big name companies.

I'm gonna try and replicate the Dutch vs Predator pose anyway with my HT figs at some point when I get time.

I've been a fan of kits since I was little. But at that time it was cars, fighter jets, and rockets. My dad used to build kits when he was little and then after a while he would blow them up! Lol Of course they were cheaper kits, not these high quality $500 ones. I've always looked as kits as something a little more personal.

I mean, you can buy a toy but what you see is what you get. With kits though, you can build them and paint them to fit your taste. You personalize them to you. Maybe that's why I don't see this as such a huge problem.

Kits are fan made pieces that are sold for you to build for yourself. Narin doesn't half @$$ his pieces by talking someone else's finished product and producing a replica. He does all the sculpting himself. I believe that this world is big enough for big company licensed products, and personal fan made kits. I don't think there will be any stepping on toes here. But no one should ever take a piece someone has created with their hard earned time and resources, and put 50% or so into creating a recast, and selling it as an original. Just my .2cents

BTW, sorry guys, I just reread my last paragraph and it sounded kind of preachy. LOL

ANYWAY...moving on past the monotonous part of this thread. :sleep

It's a great kit, the Arnold likeness is killer.
I'm not sure where Narin got the size of the Pred's hand from though.
It's WAY too big.

And hopefully we'll see Joe do a paint up of this soon.

But, I'll definately be keeping my eyes open for what others come up with.

Look forward to what SS has up its sleeves.

I would imagine possibly something like this, unless they take some creative license and make a scene that isn't 100% exact to something from the movie, like the AVPR dio. Dutch vs. the Predator was a cool climax to the movie, but there aren't many freeze frame moments with them in close proximity to each other that would make for interesting dios. There wasn't a moment where they were punching at each other, Dutch was getting his ass handed to him most of the time once his cover was blown and they were really fighting 1 on 1. I'd love a dio of the Predator letting out that first big maskless roar, it's a classic image of him, but then Dutch would just be standing there, not a very interesting piece.

I'd love a dio of him yelling at the predator, hit me! come on do eet!

Good size log, arnold backed into it and the predator standing at him. Maybe have an extra head with that questioned look on the preds face where he realizes it is a setup.

HT hired a bunch. :lol They hired Gorae specifically to do their Hellboy II figure. Probably because Gorae had been doing some really great (and highly praised) unlicensed versions already. They also hired Kojun who like Gorae, was selling unlicensed figures.

Realistically.. how else can unsigned, small time artists catch a break if not by doing unlicensed stuff!? Guarantee most would not get the same amount of attention if they had always done 100% original creations/figures.

Narnin is an amazing artist , if sideshow or someone similar picked him up I'd love to be able to buy some of his work. As of now there is no way I can afford anything. :lol

It's how Randy Bowen got his start.

It's obvious that this thread is going to cause problems, so I'll have to close it again.

I'm afraid we're going to have to take the same stance on these particular types of pieces that we do on the mass-produced Marvel bootlegs.

FYI - SSC does have the Arnie likeness for Dutch.
