Get a wii, or a gamecube, so you can play RE 0 and bio-hazard. then track down RE 2, 3, and code veronica for it as well. they graphics on 2,3, and veronica are not any better than the DC versions, but they load a bit faster.

Spend another $10 and pick up the gamecube remake releases or the wii...it's well worth it.

Thanks, I shall keep that in mind. Way my sick mind works: I'd want to start with the original and go from there...so the REmake would be the 5th game I'd play.......

I think I have the order right.....right? :slap

you should play Code Veronica X instead of the original. X has a little bit more to it, but more Wesker is always nice.

With all the suggestions you're getting here, Dr. Mirakle, I think you might end up buying everything.

I'm going to distill it down to one game. One game that, in my opinion, sums up everything good about RE and none of the bad. A game that excels despite it's limitations. I dare say it is the greatest achievement by the RE team, nay, Capcom.

That game is

Resident Evil Gaiden. For the Gameboy Color.

you do... but i'd advise just skipping the original versions.. they're bad... I mean REALLY bad. like make you want to gouge your ears out with a sculpting awl bad.

I'd go
RE:0
RE BiohAZARD ( REMAKE)
RE 2
re 3
RE CVX
RE 4
RE 5

It'll make ALOT more sense, and You'll get the story in the order it's intended to be told.

and if he wants to get reeeal technical he should play it like this

RE:Ø
Resident Evil ( REMAKE)
First half of RE3
RE 2
Second half of RE3
RE CVX
RE 4
RE 5 Lost in Nightmares DLC
Watch Resident Evil Degeneration movie
RE 5 (Play Desperate escape DLC just before the last chapter)

I'd still say play the original Resident Evil. everyone should at least once. It's charming at least, and it's good to know where the roots are...I love the game after all these years. Never tire of it.

This game has Barry as one of the main protagonists there fore it is crucial to play for anyone....CRUCIAL!

I would def. shoot for the Gamecube version at the very least and start from there. I've always loved the older games when compared to the newer ones. It was more of a survival horror back then instead of a 3rd person shooter.

i never finished the original PSX version. the dialog was just too awful. My FIRST resident evil was 2.

"Jill. Here. You Take. This. As you. are the. Master of Unlocking."

The worst is in the very beginning when Barry is examining the blood stain...

Barry: What is this?
Jill: What is it?
Barry: Blood! Jill, see if you can find anymore clues. I'll be examining this... I hope this is not CHRIS' blood!

Like Barry is going to examine a pile of blood for any clues.

That and when they are like man this place is dangerous we better split up, and Barry's like I'll go check out the dining hall again. So bad they made me laugh.

Hey can anyone recommend the on the rail shooters for the wii...they can be had rather cheap now on amazon and what not. Are they worth it, or does the gameplay get stale?

I like em, but I think the average gamer would grow tired of it. I think the only reason I like them so much is because of my love for the series. If these shooters were based on any other game I probably wouldn't play it too much.

Umbrella Chronicles can get a little repetitive because a lot of the environments are a little bland and they took a lot of resources from the outbreak games and the enemy variety is a little iffy they use almost the same set of baddies throughout the levels.

Darkside Chronicles is a well put together game though, it's more polished than it's predecessor. If you're only gonna get one get that one. The RE2 stages , alone, are worth it.

They are a lot of fun with a buddy sitting next to you on the couch shooting zombies with ya.

Update: well, took the plunge - I am the proud owner of the gamecube versions of RE: 0 thru RE 4, and Veronika - THANKS to all for the help. Special thanks to lerath666 for the advice - I took it. Figure I could always play the original, original after all of that. Got a good price on a bundle.....

So, do most agree I should start with RE0 first? I know very little about the game version story other than basics
