OK, as the thread says, I received my SITH Anakin today...in a disasterous state.

First, the doorbell rang. I opened it...to find the box on my doorstep with the UPS guy running down the walkway back to his truck. He didn't even wait to see if I was home.

Next, when I picked up the box, I could see it was dented, punctured and otherwised crushed severely....

(sorry for the giant pics)

I have never had any trouble with FedEx -- everything arrived perfect and pristine. This is my first UPS delivery for SS. THIS WILL BE MY LAST!

I wish SS had contacted me first to give me the choice of delivery service. I would definitely pay a few bucks more not to have to reship and wait for a replacement figure every time. This sucks!

Needless to say, I need to send this back to SS for replacement. I hope they can accomodate me.

Also, more bad news, there will be no pictures of Sith Anakin in my kitchen today. :monkey2

oh man. I was looking forward to seeing some nude Anakin in the kitchen :lol

all seriousness...like I said UPS, FedEx, DHL,...they are all the same. They pull down the stack of packages and hope it falls on the conveyour belt and sometimes the workers use the package as a sitting tool, etc... I really hope SS can give you a replacement, at least the box. How about the figure, is it intack?

You don't have to send the whole figure back. I'm pretty sure Sideshow will mail you a new box if you mail the damaged empty box back.

Maybe someone who's dealt with this before can chime in?

Or call Sideshow and ask them if you need to send back the figure as well.

i recieved my Kit Excl in a similar state recently but from FEDEX. contacted SS and they sent me a new, pristine box!! which was all i wanted since everything inside was cool. thanks for that SS!

anyway, i'm sure they'll hook u up Wor.

That's ugly! The same thing happened with my first Anakin. I called SS Customer Service and talked to the wonderful Aimee. She sent me a brand new box and I requested to have all my figures double boxed from now on. It does mean a delay in shipping, but I don't mind as long as my figures arrive safely.

That is box is just painful to look at... that's gotta win the prize for the most thrashed I've seen so far. Fingers crossed mine arrives in better shape :D

Wor-Gar that goes beyond T'Suck!!!! Its at least good to know that SSC will give a new box. You don't have to send the whole box back, so come on, Lets see some NUDE SITH!!!! :monkey3

WorGar, UPS is not the only culprit. Look what FedEx did to my Anakin box.

UPS is the worst. I've gotten packages from them that literally looked like they were taken out of the truck, put under a wheel, backed over and then brought to my doorstep. The worst.

Thanks guys, thanks all reassuring news.

I did call SS of course, but their returns department is a week behind because of SDCC and can't deal with anything until sometime next week. All you can do is leave a message right now.

I didn't ask about the box however, I will call back about that. Thanks.

I haven't really checked the figure yet as the box was in such a disgrace. I'll have to take a good look at him to make sure I want to risk opening him and keeping him after the terrible experience my little figure must have had on that evil UPS truck. Someone used him for a stool!

Like everyone else has stated, as bad as this is it's not unusual from any shipping service. I've received several in the past like this using Fedex.

The problem really lies with the shipping carton. In order to insure a pristine box it should actually be shipped in a larger box with packing material. The only 'pristine' boxes I have as a matter of fact are ones which were included in orders of mutliple figures and shipped together in a larger box.

Remember hearing a rumor some time back that maybe they would offer this type of packing for an additional charge, not sure if there will be anything come of that though.

And that is why I filled out the Customer Service form to keep FedEx as my shipper, on the night the newsletter announced this!!!

Everyone has their own experience with each shipper, and for some one is bad while for others it is good. My personal experience is that UPS delivers more damaged packages than DHL, FedEx and USPS combined!!! I would never want the majority of my Sideshow packages to ship via UPS, because I would have to request replacements for way too many!!! Your mileage may vary... :monkey4

I would tend to agree. I live about 20 miles from Sideshow and FedEx has little time to destroy my package.

UPS seems to have mastered quick destruction -- I mean they just got the damn package last night and its here by 2:30. Good speed...but I wish they didn't pack my box under the wheel.

Geez, it only took a day and we already have a ups sucks thread to go with the fedex one.:rotfl

It's funny you should say that. Here's part of my post from earlier this month:

Have you ever asked Sideshow about will call pickup at there location. I am not to far from them and drive by there all the time for work. That would be a great option for those of use in the area.

Yep, pretty nasty. There's really no excuse for that. Mine isn't dented like that, its more like it was sat on from the top; you know, crushed down.

And yes, Batty, just like a stool! I can't believe so many of us have had problems with Anakin. No wonder he's become a Sith.

Sideshow insists that their warehouse setup and operation doesn't allow for in-person pickups.

No, they won't allow pick-ups.

And its a bit of a drive for you anyway... I grew up in Long Beach (Belmont Shores) so I know the route well.
