Sadly we'll probably get something like this

jeremy-renner-as-hawkeye.jpg

I actually like that.

Honestly looking at the Captain America costume while some aren't a fan of it, it definitely blends the look and feel of the comic costume into a more realistic feel. I'm hoping they'll take Hawkeye's costume and give it the same characteristic and feel whether its actually purple tights or not. I want The Avengers to feel super whether they are in tights or not.
I agree. Cap looks OK to me, as does Thor (in Asgardian armor).

I also wouldn't mind a Renner looking like that mock-up fuzzy posted :monkey3

Surely better than guy with infra-red goggles and trenchcoat.

About SS.........no. Because theirs nothing "positive" about their products. My opinion, public forum.
The quality of their stuff is fine. Pieces here and there have issues but that's the same for most places. Keeping up and reading makes sense but posting how bad everything is with everything is trolling.
Chris,
Josh can be an apologist at times, but he is 100% right on this one. I have been known to criticize Sideshow, but they still make some bad ass products.

Thinking of my items to come in this year, the Ironman Maquette is the only one that had issues (albeit, major issues).
  1. Wolverine EX PF- great
  2. Sabertooth EX PF- one of my favorites
  3. Gambit EX PF- one of my favorites
  4. Ms. Marvel EX PF- paint apps not as detailed as proto pics, but still
    a great piece
  5. Firefly 1/6th- one of, if not the, best GI Joe released yet

People have the right, and should, complain about poor QC and subpar paint apps, and I agree that people should come to the boards to discuss releases, but saying that there is nothing positive about their products is really gooberish. :peace

I am loving the PF concept art for the upcoming movie Captain America and will most likely pick it up; ESPECIALLY if it has switch out head sculps with the WWII helmet. Comic fans need to realize that Spiderman and Batman are really the only movies that have successfully implemented a "comic" costume into a live action movie. The "comic" costumes were horrible on all FF4 movies and I don't think they would work with the X-Men or Avengers

Kind of a bummer, but I know they're gonna do as you say (Renner said in an interview that he wasn't gonna wear a "silly" purple get-up). Bummer because Hawkeye's one of my favorite Marvel characters of all time, and as everyone knows, classic Marvel trumps contemporary and movie Marvel. Everytime. They didn't make Thor a guy with goggles and a trenchcoat or whatever the ____ they think makes a "realistic" Marvel hero nowadays.

I like how they gave subtle hints to the comic costumes in the first X-Men movie:

Green piping on Jean

Cape on Storm

Blue & Yellow piping on Cyclops

Orange/brown piping and Tiger stripe shapes on shoulders and torso on Wolvie

et al...

I'd be happy with Hawkeye wearing tactical gear with subtle purple accents.

For the record, I think Thor's movie costume looks awesome.

And once your Thor PF shows up looking like a happy meal toy you will be singing a different tune.

Going to a public forum set up for fans of a company you don't like just to talk negatively about that company's products? I wish I had that much spare time :)

This looks cool, but I think I will stick to the classic Thor PF. I also agree that classic Hawkeye in the purple outfit needs to be done. I love the Ultimates comic series, but as far as a statues to display, those versions aren't as eye catching or something that I think I need in my collection.

Agreed. I wouldn't want any Ultimates statues either... Now a line of Hot Toys figures based on them? That's another story :)

I don't think Hawkeye's comic costume is going to look good in a movie. I hope they do something other than black leather. It's not a horrible look, but I feel it is way overused for Super heroes. I think they have done well with Thor and Cap's costumes, so I hope they find a nice balance for Hawkeye as well.

Dammit Fuzzy, when I saw those pics I thought it was a preview of a Modern Thor they are doing. :lol Who is that going to be?

You've read my opinion of Sideshow's products in the Dinosauria threads. You're the only one who thinks those statues are of poor quality. You're expectations are unrealistic. Naturally, you are welcome to them and to share them, but would it kill you to interject a positive statement here and there? No one likes someone who is always putting everything down.

Ahaha, I think it's a custom Thor, hope they do modern Thor like that! There really aren't enough 1/4 scale pieces with dynamic fighting poses.

Where can I sign up? I've got no interest in the HT Thor. But this? There's an empty space already waiting for it!

:hi5::hi5:

Classic Thor is great; but personally I prefer his new chain-mail costume.

Really?...because I havent received any bad ass products. I've received "bad" products from SS though (one after another...after another). Im baseing my opinion from my personal experience with SS. I've returned 3 pieces this month alone due to horrible QC and 2 pieces the month before that. I dont think im being overly picky...Hulk DID NOT fit in the dam base for god sakes. He had paint runs down his chest, their was a black finger print on his pants and the base was chipped and pealing like crazy...am I being picky?
My alien warriors face looked like it was put together by a drunk child.
Jack sparrows eyes were painted brown :dunno
All my Dinosauria pieces came with paint runs in one place or another with horrible shading.
My PF T-800 came with Arnolds head fallen off.
My PF king leonidas had gold paint on his chest and shoulders
My PF Hellboy II came with a huge chip missing in the base
My 1:1 Iron man bust....well do I really need to go there :gah:

Honestly...I can go on and on. If I was new to SS and didnt know them any better. I would not be impressed as a new customer. But you keep hoping the next one will be better and maybe it was just a fluke you got a bad one. But it hasnt stopped, almost EVERYTHING I have ordered from SS has major issues. Dont I have a right to be a little ticked? wouldnt anyone?. I dont talk crap about SS because I like to, its because up until this point...its the truth.

Read what I wrote above, or go back and look at some of the pictures I posted of the pieces that were sent to me. Then tell me my expectations are unrealistic. I would LOVE to throw in a positive note every now and then about SS. I havent had a reason to up till now unfortunately. Maybe were not ordering statues from the same "sideshow collectibles"? Because everything you guys get turns out to be the opposite for me. My Hulk came to me by a company called "Sidehsow" :dunno

Chris

So since this is from a movie, won't it be classified as a maquette? And what size will it be, 1/3? 1/4? GR size? I do like the pose, so much better than the PF to me.

And as far as the QC discussion, I've not had any problems with other companies like I have with SS. All my MR and eFX products were flawless and I hardly saw any defects reported, even with products that were infinitely more intricate.

No. Maquettes are single media just like the Comiquettes just not Comi. Premium Formats are mixed medias and if this is a mixed media piece then look for cloth to be incorporated at minimum in the cape.

Ah, I missed that in the tiny lettering of the teaser. I guess this will be the first PF of a Marvel movie figure then.

I'm already thinking this will be set up the same way the Bucky Barnes Cap PF was as far as materials and such. Which will be fine as that piece looks to be ____ing awesome.
