Re: New Vampirella PF (Artgerm)

I think the art for Jean looks good. I'm just worried about the final statue. I still have Rogue and Psylocke on my list. But I'm going to have to find an artist to make them the way I want. I think if we get a Mark Brooks Phoenix every thing will be cool. I don't know why we haven't got another Mark Brooks statue in years...

Re: Vampirella Premium Format Figure

I didn't even know this character is popular. Does anyone even read her comics?

Ouch. It must be the art, I suppose. It sucks (no pun). The writing though, is fantastic. I'm referring to the monthly from Dynamite.

Anyway, chances are I'm going to get this as I missed the first and I think it would be nice to have this paired with the Red Sonja PF, a duo of Dynamite's Explosive Women. I love Artgerm's art too and it's great that SSC's hired him to design a lot of stuff for them, but seeing that the pose is almost the same I wish SSC based this on the classic artwork from the legendary Jose Gonzalez instead:

I actually used to have a nice collection of 70's Vampirella's I bought at a garage sale when I was 14. I believe my mother tossed them when i moved out at 18. :monkey2

That @ss is at least one, and perhaps actually two axe-handles wide. :pfft: Is the Huntress really a wide ride? This must be one of those guy-things I will never understand.

In other news, it looks like SS is about to lose their Vampirella license, hence two figures so close to each other, while other characters not yet done languish in maybe-ville. Oh well! Agree that the Gonzalez pose really cant be beat; they should have went with that.

But an Artgerm Huntress sculpted by Sideshow. The DC Direct line doesn't have the detail and paint of Sideshow's versions. The Supergirl, Batwoman, and others are disappointing considering the artwork.

This place would blow up if Sideshow teased Artgerm Birds of Prey in the 2014 calendar. I still would like to see Adam Hughes design Batgirl / Oracle. But Sideshow seems to be holding on to all of his designs. It's like we will be lucky to get a Hughes WW at this point. Especially since his Catwoman LSF is going through all these revisions.

That line is probably dead

I hope not. Mark Brooks teased a few different characters in the past. I wonder why they aren't going through.

But this is the Gonzalez pose in Artgerm's style. I can't wait to see the full sculpt.

Can't wait to see it myself. Yeah, as I said the pose is almost the same. Nothing wrong with Artgerm as I do love his art, but I'd rather that SSC used Gonzalez's instead. Old school as it may be, Gonzalez being one of if not THE most popular Vampirella artists of all-time should have been given the honor of having his art used to inspire the statue; and given that some are already complaining about Vampi getting more attention "than she deserves" by SSC, what better time to have done a Gonzalez statue than now instead of reserving it for another slot that a. may never happen b. would happen to the dismay of those who have already complained that Vampi's getting too much PF treatment too soon, or c. may result to people complaining that the pose looks like Artgerm's anyway unless they use another Gonzalez art as inspiration.

But then of course we don't know what exactly happens behind-the-scenes, as far as artists licenses and image copyright are concerned.

:lol:lol:lol In my personal Defense, Don't like a Big Caboose, small and tight.

Well that Sucks (No Pun Intended) on Vampirella and I would like to know what they SSC deems a producible product, that we may never know. A 1/4 scale Gonzalez Vampirella would be SWEET!

So much agree on the Birds of Prey but it would take probably them years based on WonderWoman to be produced.

DC Entertainment is as you know has already done Batwoman, Batgirl, Supergirl and soon Poison Ivy and the Huntress all based on Artgerms renditions, I would have snagged them but there to small.

I think Mark is doing Artgerms Catwoman and I am so looking forward to the reveal on Vampirella

Be Cool

After reading your comments on this page alone I think we may be looking at late 2014 for a reveal and Early 2015 for pre-order, I am basing this on this pic

Mark Newman posted a teaser on SF, and it looks like Catwoman.

Catwoman_zps7191a324.jpg

But then he said... "Don't want to get your hopes up, but that dose look very similar. Try again."

I consider myself a good judge of sculpts and this looks like a prototype, the similarities are to close to the Artgerm's rendition IMO

In retrospect companies like to Muddy the Water's, there just taking a page from our Federal Government :lol:lol:lol:lol

I had a thread on the other forum about the Gonzalez Vampi. They called it a maquette then. I was sure that we were getting a pure Gonzalez version. Who knows what happened. They even had that video with the Vampirella historian that said his favorite is the Gonzalez version. Perhaps Sideshow decided to add the popularity of Artgerm to the statue? I asked that Sideshow artist if the maquette turned into the PF but he didn't respond. At least not yet...

I see, thanks for the info. It's a bummer though. Gonzalez-inspired Vampi figure would have been the ultimate Vampi collectible for me.

Again, I love Artgerm's work, but with him on board designing a lot of female character PFs for SSC they might as well just call it Stan Lau collection.
