Next Star Wars PF...

I thought there was already a speculation thread for this, but I couldn't find it--so here goes.

What do you think the next 1/4 scale Star Wars figure is going to be?

They said in the interview posted at StarWars.com that after releasing five characters from Episode IV, they would be moving on to another episode, and that we would be "pleasantly surprised" with the next announcement.

In today's chat, I asked if the next PF figure would be from the prequels, and they said no. So (unless the misunderstood me, or vice versa) we can rule out Darth Maul, Qui-Gon, Mace Windu, Jar Jar, etc.

My guess is the C3P0 and R2 are next, which would be great. We do know for a fact they were working on C3P0 at one point too from some pics a while back.

I am really hoping for a very high quality Boba Fett piece (think Predator quality!).

I've been calling a Boba Fett 1/4 for a while, so we'll see. I actually think I'd rather have the droids at this point, though. I hope the droids are mostly metal, although I realize that they need to have some polystone to keep costs down.

And C-3PO and R2 are prequel characters, but they could also be done as characters from any of the six films. They can do a character from more than movie as they are represented in one particular episode, and consider it "moving on" from ANH. I think that Boba Fett is still thought of more as an ESB character--just as Jabba now appears in ANH but is still associated with ROTJ. Hayden Christiansen could also now be done as a ROTJ character, for that matter. Expensive collectibles need to tap into our memories and represent classic and iconic moments. Boba Fett smiling at the camera in ANH:SE is not how I remember him best.

Right- Last year, it was Vader. They will want an equally desirable and buzz-inducing figure for this year's announcement. Bring him on, I say!!!

If it is from ROTJ, then there are plenty of interesting character choices from Jabba's Palace. However, it is too early in the line for someone like Bib Fortuna, etc.

With the 12 inch figure line tackling the Jedi characters of Episodes III and VI, the Premium Format series has stuck primarily with the cast of A New Hope. The singular exception to this rule was the inclusion of General Grievous among the Episode IV crew. "It was totally intentional," explains Otterbacher. "We wanted to start our first Star Wars line with the film that started it all -- A New Hope. But, in the case of Grievous, we felt the character was strong enough visually to break out of this, not to mention the excitement from the latest film. We will be moving on to another film with the next announcement, and I think fans will be very pleasantly surprised by what's next."

If we take it that the character is from ESB, there are really only 3 possibilities:

1. Boba Fett
2. Yoda
3. Lando

Any other character is probably too minor to be considered, IMO. I really don't see them making characters like Bossk until more regulars have been made.

I think Boba Fett and Yoda are the most likely. I'm actually not as big of a Boba Fett fan as other people, but I am excited about adding him to my collection.

Didn't someone suggest that Sideshow wanted to do their best not to overlap between the 1:6 and the 1:4?

If I'm remembering that right then we can look forward to either ROTJ (but not Luke unless he's wearing a ponch and a helmet) or Empire that aren't Heroes of the Rebellion. And it would have to be someone that won't be in 1:6 for awhile. And they probably want to postpone duplicating characters for awhile. Something big for Toy Fare. Hmm...

Yeah, Boba Fett seems right to me. Lando might be in the que. Stormtrooper, too. Yoda would be welcome.

I keep coming back to Boba Fett, though. In which case his exclusive would have to be no less than an actual firing missle with real explosive tip.

Technically, of the first five Star Wars 12" figures, Kit Fisto is the only character not already prepresented in the 1/4 scale line in one way or another. The costumes and ages are different (Vader being the biggest stretch), but character-wise, they are at an 80% overlap rate so far. The problem is, they need to start off the lines with major characters. I think that means repeats are inevitable for a while.

I think Fett would be the best bet, could be Yoda. Character wise I want Yoda loads more than Fett, its just the PF treatment that I think will make Boba such a great piece, I mentioned the reasons in another thread and I think everyone here knows why too! Anyways the point I was going to make before I went off topic is who is more popular to Star Wars fans Yoda or Boba?

BTW Where is Boba in ANH? I've seen the special edition a few times but can't recall seeing him.

I also think Boba is most likely the next PF statue. I do think, however, that if it is Yoda, that it'll be a two-pack with Luke. Hell, it could be Chewie with 3-po two-pack even. If the next PF statue IS from ESB, I'd prefer Lando over any of the other's though.

If ESB gets skipped over, and SS goes directly to ROTJ, then I can see a Lando Skiff Guard, Gam Guard, Emperor, Red Guard, and, yes, even Bib being made.

Like you guys, I'm dying to know.
