Brady wants to play another ten years. Rodgers will to. I would take Brady or Rodgers over Luck for the next ten years. I would take Wilson or Newton over Luck.
Wanting to do something and actually doing it are two different things. Tom Brady is in his 16th season and is 38. True, he's playing as well this year as he ever has, but I highly doubt he will be able to play 26 seasons as a starting caliber QB until he is 48.
Rodgers is 31 and in his 11th season. He might be able to play for another 10 years...but that's pushing things.
I thought there was a coach/GM poll recently, but couldn't find it. However, there was a fan poll for the rest of us arm chair QBs:
"Which player would you pick to start your NFL team?
The NFL asked this question on Instagram and it should come as no surprise that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck received 34 percent of the fan vote.
Three Pro Bowls and playoff appearances in as many seasons makes Luck an obvious No. 1 choice. And the NFL leader in TD passes last season (40) turns 26 in September, so he’s still young with room to grow.
That’s probably why he edged Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was second with 31 percent of the vote. Rodgers has the more established career — his 10-year career passer rating of 106 ranks first in league history. He’s won one Super Bowl ring been voted NFL MVP twice and has been selected to four Pro Bowls.
He’s 31, so if the question is starting a franchise, it makes sense to take the guy who has more longevity, right?
When an NFL Network panel of retired stars Kurt Warner, Michael Irvin, Marshall Faulk and Warren Sapp debated the question last year, Warner and Sapp chose Rodgers while Irvin wanted Luck and Faulk picked Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt.
“I would just take Luck for the youth in what I see going forward,” Irvin said.
Luck’s 12,957 passing yards is the most ever for a passer in the league’s first three seasons.
?
Watt, 26, received 13 percent of the fan vote. In just four seasons, he’s been named NFL Defensive Player of the Year twice. He’s everyone’s choice as the game’s top defensive player.
The NFL fan poll finished with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson at 12 percent and Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton at 10 percent."
Never said Luck should be cut. Just benched until he is healed up and learns how to play smart football again. I think you are jumping to conclusions when reading my posts. You can't say "Luck is fine." No, Luck truly is playing terrible and with only two epic quarters all year.... he needs to get better. I am not giving up hope on Luck for his whole career.... just for this year.
Playing Matt Hasselbeck has no upside. You let your young quarterback play through and learn from his mistakes. They aren't going to win the Super Bowl this year, with or without Luck (pun intended). Shut him down only if he truly is injured.
Garbage? Two good tight ends, top tier receiver, great veteran receiver, and a top 10 running back are considered garbage?
Colby Fleener and Dwayne Allen are decent, TY Hilton can makes some plays but I don't think many in the NFL would consider him a top tier receiver yet, Andre Johnson...well, he's no longer the player he used to be, as is Frank Gore, who's currently 12th in rushing yards, 16th in rushing average and yards per game, and 10th in TDs but 2nd in fumbles.
