Good Luck to Feeder.

Maybe teddy will let rain man sell casts and split the money - or teddy get someone to cast and sell himself to recoup his outlay ?
Or how about no?
Teddy has sacrificed many of his prized possessions (in many cases for less than he paid for them), to be able to afford this.
Whatever you think of that decision, it'd done, and Rainman or Teddy are under no obligation to make this available to anyone else.
If people want a top quality David, there's a ton of highly talented artists out there that can be approached to make it happen

Yeah, i dont get how people feel like they own Rainman and he and Teddy now owe them something?! Seriously guys
hey aaron, congratulations on this project. it should come out great.
at the risk of pissing you off, i really was looking forward to a rainman david and thought it was a sure thing since it came so highly in the poll. i honestly thought it was coming, we'd just have to wait. now, as you've said, you obviously have the right to privately commission this, and you sacrificed a lot for it. it will be the centrepiece of your collection and will no doubt look amazing. i am happy for you.
i think what cal is trying to get across, right or wrong, is to try and see it from the perspective of people who thought rainman would tackle this as a group project. let's say you had a project that you were pretty sure would come from rainman at some point, and it was one of your favourite characters. let's say shutter island teddy daniels for sake of argument. but someone else privately commissioned him from rainman, preventing you from getting one yourself. that would make you feel just a little bitter, don't you agree? of course if the other person had the means to do it and sacrificed for it, they had the right.
there is nothing wrong with your commission, and no-one is entitled to change its terms. it's just that the group of rainman collectors have kind of formed an informal brotherhood, right from the start. people coming together to choose and build projects for mutual benefit. i think the thing causing the negativity on your commission is that it might be construed as not being in that spirit. like i said, i'm just trying to explain the other perspective, not belittle the project or your achievement in getting it made.
i mean... imagine if i successfully went and privately commissioned a daniel plainview from rainman, stopping everyone else from getting one. probably unlikely anyone at all would be bothered, but it's just an example
anyway, i look forward to seeing how this comes together. especially the outfit and the little details.

No need to get all defensive - the point is simply that whats done is done, it's been commissioned, its going to be a one off, constant posts about maybe Teddy can do this or maybe Rainman can do that are really pointless.
If Teddy wants to recoup his costs, he may work something like that out with Rainman. But he's made no indication of that, so I think people should just let it rest
Nah, more likely no one would say anything... but there would be furious messages being posted on the board
