Re: Nintendo 3DS

Some news on the Mario game for the 3DS:

Super Mario 3D will be fully unveiled at E3 2011 according to Miyamoto, who also confirmed that its under intensive development. As previously noted, the game “will be a combination of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy,” but Miyamoto added that elements of New Super Mario Bros. will be present. He also talked about how the camera angle influences the depth of the environment:

"Super Mario 3D will include a fixed camera system, slightly like the one you saw in Super Mario 64, in which the camera does not move and Mario walks around on the screen. This time you will really feel the depth. Shigeru Miyamoto explains that this method brings dynamism to the staging of the game. This game mechanic certainly will impress and entertain the players says Miyamoto."

And there will be new AR cards soon:

The augmented reality games in the Nintendo 3DS are a blast, and luckily Nintendo is smart enough to not let go of a good thing. Miyamoto has confirmed that new AR Games are in development, although that’s as far as the news goes. We’re not sure if these are downloadable titles or will be available at retail. But they do seem like the perfect sort of game to be purchasable via the Nintendo 3DS eShop, so hopefully Nintendo doesn’t ignore their own self-created channel of distribution.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

I had a dream the other night that I was playing Zelda on the 3DS and was getting pissed that I couldnt' sit it down and play it with a controller. :(

BTW, has it dawned on anyone that the 3DS has 3 less buttons than the N64 controller? I wonder how the new control scheme will work? I also wonder if they'll do something with the goodies that were hidden with the rumble pack since there is no vibration with the 3DS?

Re: Nintendo 3DS

The 3DS has less buttons but it does have a touchscreen; not to mention a better configuration. I mean, how often do you use the D-pad and left shoulder button on the N64 fork controller? Rarely, if never. :lol

Re: Nintendo 3DS

I am thinking of buying my daughter the 3DS. I messed around with it for a little bit at Target, does it get less straining on the eyes after more playing? Would you guys recommend overall?

The eye strain goes away nearly completely after the first hour or so. I would recommend the 3DS simply because it plays the old DS games as well as the new games.

You can also lower the 3D level to about half to reduce any eye strain. IMO, it makes the effect more realistic anyway.

Dead or Alive: Dimensions was released today. I'm not really a fan of this fighting game series, but it's supposed to be pretty good and a graphical showcase for the 3DS.

Depends on the age of your daughter as well, it's not recommended for kids under 8 or 9 I think because the 3d messes with eye developement at a young age. My daughter loves hers, but she's 10 and already has glasses....

3DS eShop and browser update is live! Free download of Excite Bike.

...but due to heavy traffic it's slow and buggy at the moment. I'm dl'ing the update right now, but it's a trickle.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

I downloaded the update this morning. The shop blows away the Wii shop in accessability (sp?).

Excitebike is fun and darn near a completely remade game. They did not skimp on this remake.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

I downloaded it before I left for work this morning. I'm looking forward to giving it a good looking over when I get home.
