For $300+ no thanks. My mom called last weekend saying she found my old NES im just going to buy a few favorite games on ebay and call it a day.

I'm guessing that Nintendo cancelled production to promote whatever they have in store for the Switch virtual console. Knowing Nintendo, they'll start off with a bunch of NES games that have already been released on the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS.

I wanted one of these at one point, but then when the Switch came, my interest plummeted.

I'm really surprised these got so popular. Thankfully, it doesn't affect me. :lol

I talked to an employee at Nintendo NY and he said they should be getting more there on Monday.

I should've just bought a second one since I was never able to find a second official Nintendo controller for it at retail price.

My guess is the innards of the NES Classic are being used for a SNES Classic this year. Probably didn't have the production power to make both. The NES Classic is actually powerful enough to emulate an N64 at around 85% speed. Crazy.

I don't know much about the technical issues associated with these things, but when a 15 year old system (DS) can play NES, SNES, Neo Geo, etc. games really well, and store every game in those catalogs on a single mini SD card, Nintendo should surely be able to put out a system today that can do what they need in this regard.

Anyone know if these can still be bought at retail before they retire it? Want to get one as a gift for a buddy's youngling.

Sorry buddy, but you asked for this overused GIF..

I think this is just the first taste of what a true limited exclusive item feels like from Japan, and we're clearly not used to it here in the US. There has been many exclusives that you simple can't score and have to deal with it, those exclusive never left Japan in the first place so we never had to deal with that..

Ironically the Japanese Famicom mini is much easier to get, but I think it still holds true. I'd like to see more Nintendo exclusives coming to the US. Aside from the obvious Snes mini, I want an Snes themed Switch, or rather super famicom themed switch with the bright colors.

Haha, it's all good, I'll get them something else. Didn't BestBuy have a pre-order when they first came out last year? I know a buddy of mine got it from there, but I guess since then it's been a hot sell.

I was lucky enough to get one two months ago (about that) but had to be at the store when they were getting their daily shipment in and the clerks were kind enough to give me tips (e.g. if one store in town gets one, we all get one. They always come on Thursday. etc.) I went every Thursday for four weeks when they would get the mail. I was in a line of four people waiting for the mail and they got two units (I was the second person, so all good). I feel bad for my boys. They want to play the two player games but it only comes with one controller and I've never seen a controller for sale on it's own.

I've been grinding through Final Fantasy for a bit and made the same mistake I made as a kid! I forgot that the thief/ninja should not have a weapon. Does more damage with his fists. After a looooong time, I remembered and laughed after so many nights of "omg the ninja sucks so bad".

I've since heard they aren't making more but I'd ask your local shops to be sure.
