No surprise. They had such a hit with the Switch that it would have been imprudent to deviate too much with this. But, also a bit disappointing that there doesn't seem to be much that is exciting or innovative. I'm sure I'll get one whenever the new exclusive Zelda game comes out.

Because we needed another one of those .

My Switch hasn't been turned on in over 2 years. So I don't see any reason to get this if it's just gonna be more baby games.

Mario Kart 8 was first released in 2014! Frankly it is time that we got another one of those. The Switch was just updating and re-releasing Wii U games for most of its lifespan, which goes to show you the value of a useful gimmick over new and innovative or fancier games. Though the Zelda and Smash Bros. games on the Switch are some of the greatest games ever made, so it's hard to fault Nintendo too much. This focus on a small number of typically high quality games has been their approach essentially since the NES.

The Switch was just updating and re-releasing Wii U games for most of its lifespan, which goes to show you the value of a useful gimmick over new and innovative or fancier games. Though the Zelda and Smash Bros. games on the Switch are some of the greatest games ever made, so it's hard to fault Nintendo too much. This focus on a small number of typically high quality games has been their approach essentially since the NES.

I mean it’s Mario Kart. It’s basically like buying the next FIFA game, same thing with a different lick of paint.

Literally the only Nintendo IP that’s of any interest to me is Pokemon, and the games haven’t exactly been great the last few years.

Something new or fresh would be nice. But they like to play it safe. Seems to work for them though I guess.

Nintendo's first party games are pretty good despite being aimed at a younger audience. Problem is, they hardly ever dip below $39.99 so the incentive to buy them is purely on impulse unless you're driven to play them initially.

I only bought a Switch to play Breath of the Wild, and it took me a long time to even get into the game, but I did enjoy it eventually. Tears of the Kingdom looked like just an expansion of BOTW, so if I wanted more BOTW, I'd play that, not spend another $70 to play the same game with more crafting ability. There is nothing else of interest to me that Nintendo makes. I learned my lesson there, not super interested in paying $300 to play one Zelda game.

I was never raised on Nintendo games tbh. I had a Playstation when I was a kid.

So I have no nostalgia or connection for any of their IPs except for Pokemon. And Nintendogs .

Never played a Mario or Metroid game.

Played about 30 minutes of Breath of the Wild and got bored and sold it. Weapon/gear durability is the worst game mechanic ever created.

Absolutely hated Animal Crossing, what a miserable experience it’s just real life chores and debt with cute animals.

Maybe the can surprise me with something actually interesting but I doubt it.

While you aren't wrong about TOTK just being an upgraded BOTW, the upgrades are substantial. Gameplay and story stuff aside, you essentially get 3 times the amount of world to explore.

Nah, they won't surprise you. Nintendo has a mission statement of sorts and they'll stick to it. I grew on up nintendo in the 80s but yeah, I'm 75% a Playstation guy now.
