Nothing would make me happier then a complete recasting of this series (from who we have seen so far) for the main characters.

Toby has the incredibly stupid stare that drives me up the wall. He is a good Spider-Man when behind the mask, but I can not buy him as a non-nerdy Peter.

Dunst is NOT good enough looking to be a super model (like MJ is in the comics). I mean, have you even looked at her teeth? The cafe scene towards the end of Spider-Man 2 is just painful to watch. The poor girl tries, but it doesnt work.

Sorry to be so critical, but Spider-Man has been and will always be my favorite, so I take this stuff seriously. Well, as serious as a comic book nerd can take it :p

I think they've done a great job (in reference to tobey & kirsten) in their roles in spiderman movies. while i'm not a fan of recasting roles in hit movies (batman anyone?)...there is only so much you can do in a movie franchise. you certainly don't want to be typecast for a particular role. kirsten dunst is no supermodel, but she has a natural look that adds that element to the character of mary jane. tobey has done a respectable job bringing the spiderman/peter parker persona to the big screen.

I hate.. HATE it when the cast changes..

*sighs*

Me too, especially this one! I love this cast, and I generally HATE Dunst, but for me she pulled it off. Now I'm not just being a Fanboy, because I riped Superman Returns a new one and will do it when I feel a superhero movie failed, but the Spider-Man cast is great. I can't think of 1 character I'd replace. PP is a little dorky like Toby deep down, that's who he is! I think Topher Grace is a bad choice for Venom, but maybe he'll surprise me!

I just hate re-casting, it sucks usually. Mainly because some suit thinks "Oh time to mix things up and gt a fresh face, lets give Spidey some EDGE...hey let's cast Edge that wrestler as Spider-Man, yeah he's a little togher and cooler and the kids'll love it!!! Who cares abot continuity???"

well this makes sense because he's not making that much money off of the movies and he's the main star. however, dunst has said since before part 2 that she might not be doing more than 3 movies.

I agree 110%. I love the cast as it is! I think they have done a great job bringing all the characters to life.

IF there is a 4 I'd imagine Raimi will move on too. I'd hate to see this franchise dumbed down like Batman (90s) and FF, but with the 4th movie that kind of thing is inevitable.

Oh well thats why these 3 are so important to me and i will always remember them, with this last one being HUGE and GOIN OUT WITH A BANG!

Time to keep all of my SM3 memorabilia etc. (this spring)

I know I hate that. When a cast or director is like "3's it" it's like why? Actors afraid of being type-cast? Damn you! Who cares, if you got a good agent and are good, don't worry, and you're an ICON FOR LIFE!!!! Directors getting bored? HOW?!?!?! How can't doing Spidey movies FOR LIFE not be fun? I understand longer breaks, but I hate the curse of 3!!!

as long as they keep story's great i think they can make a couple more spiderman movies. i also don't want them to change the actors around. look at batman... the first two were pretty decent, but once they got to swapping out the leading role they got pretty crappy

Tobey IS Peter Parker for me. I have no interest in seeing anyone else in the role in a 4th film. I despise 99.9% of recasts.

If both of the lead actors want out, they should stop with the third film. IMO, anyway.

i agree.... can you believe that they wanted to cast jake gyylenhall as spiderman when tobey hurt himself before part 2?? that would've been awful.

i agree dunst is not hot enough to be mary jane and she doesn't quite pull it off for me.

I in no means intend to offend anyone with what I'm about to say, although I'm 99% sure it will, however in my opinion Spiderman 1 and 2 are perhaps the most overhyped, underdelivered, poorly cast, written, cgi'd, etc. etc. comic films ever made. Didn't enjoy either and won't be seeing 3. I'll be happy when Raimi returns to his creative form again.

I think that if Tobey and Durnst want out, let them go... But for God's sake leave it at that. Return in a decade when the fans want it again and THEN you can change the actor. It's the best way to do it. Because the first actor you see as a comic character IS that character in your mind. It's hard to switch so soon... you have to give time, to soften the blow.

George Reeves was Supes in the 50's.... and so fans had a hard time accepting Chris Reeves in the role during the 70's. But once that era started, they accepted him and he became iconic. And now people can't accept Routh in the role because of that very same reason.

Same goes for Batman, and every other character on the screen. So they should give Spidey a break after 3... at least until the memory fades... And have a triumphant return in 2015.

The only one who really seems to get away with changing actors is James Bond.

Yeah if they do recast, wait for a whole new era. I hated when Keaton left and they kept trying to recast him with lame-o's. We didn't get a good Bats until Bale.
