No Star Wars in HD until there is a clear format war winner

I believe the Porno industry is what decided the Beta vs. VHS wars so long ago.

Yup. And every advancement of the internet is by the porn industry as well. They perfected e-commerce.

I have he HD player for my Xbox, but don't really care who wins. I also don't see Lucas putting out SW on either format for some years for the market to get enough players into households, just like he did with DVD.

Press release:Starz Home Entertainment (previously Anchor Bay) has entered the high-def arena with exclusive support for the Blu-ray Disc format. The company's first titles out of the gate will be stalwart catalog titles Evil Dead II, John Carpenter's Halloween and George A. Romero's zombie flicks Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead, all due in stores on October 2nd.

The second wave of titles follows on October 16th and includes the first two volumes of Showtime's Masters of Horror anthology series, each featuring three tales from the first season. Volumes 3 & 4 follow on November 13th and December 11th, respectively. Also look for Beowulf & Grendel, starring 300's Gerard Butler, due on November 6th.

Although final specs are still pending, you can expect 1080p transfers, uncompressed PCM 5.1 audio and identical supplements ported over from the standard definition DVD releases. Retail pricing is set at $29.97 per disc.




With some of these movies like Dawn of the Dead and Halloween already having pretty damn good masters, think how good it'll be in hi-def?

I just think a lot of people deny liking porn because they are embarrassed...there is nothing to be ashamed about in my opinion...most of it's natural.

Warner first announced '300' in early May for a July 31 release on both Blu-ray and HD DVD, with initial specs including an In-Movie Experience video commentary track (exclusive to the HD DVD version).

Though IME tracks are common to many HD DVD releases, '300' will be unique in that it will include what Warner is dubbing the first-ever "Blue-Screen Picture-in-Picture Version." Throughout the track, director Zack Snyder will present the pre-CGI-enhanced version to the finished film, allowing viewers to compare the entire movie in both rough and completed forms.

The HD DVD will include several other additional exclusive features, including the "Vengeance and Valor" interactive game, a "Pick Your Favorite Scenes" function allowing users to assemble clips and create a unique montage, as well as other web-enabled downloadable features to be announced.

The remaining specs will be identical to both the HD DVD and Blu-ray versions of '300,' including standard audio commentary, multiple featurettes, a suite of "Webisodes" and deleted scenes.





I will be getting the HD DVD version for sure. In addition to the exclusive bonus features, it will also play in standard definition in a regular DVD player, so my non-high def friends/family can borrow it and watch it in their regular DVD players. I might also convert the standard def side into an MP4 and stick it on my iPod.

Still cool, but it's still not a deal breaker for me although the BlueScreen thing would be cool to watch. I have the sound and picture to truly appreciate 300, so that's enough for me. Now if it was Indiana Jones or StarWars then it would be different. :maul Thanks for the info Tom!
