Yeah the old jack looks out dated, but its still better than the medicom one.

I didn't know they used a Jon Lovitz head sculpt for the original Jack Sparrow figure.

You are right. Two Jacks before the latest DX one.

The one on the right of that picture is the second one they released, which came with that smiling face and the cannibal portrait.

It's being compared to the Cannibal Jack figure, but the Cannibal Jack and AWE Jack were identical from the neck down other than a slight paint difference on the boots, the costume and base body were identical as far as what you see in that comparison, the AWE also had his coat and hat.

The quality is crazy.
I think this is easily the best DX figure they've ever done - just by how complicated the characters multi-layered costume is.

The giant awesome wheel is just the icing on the cake.

If its a side by side the new one is really short comparatively, which I would assume is fitting with how tall Depp is in real life.

It's a very nice figure and the uniquity of Jack's costumes makes things more impressive, but the actual parts involved really seem like par for the course with HT figures of late, I don't see anything done with Jack that isn't being done with other figures. Glad he came out so well though, as there are figures that come out short of par.

I'd say it's true, the original Jack was oversized in height and overall build, it was like a He-Man version of Jack Sparrow, didn't really match Depp at all.
