Love this pic. :lecture

It seems Jack is hoping she notices that he's got a big one. :naughty :lol

:lol Jack wants to unleash the Kraken !

After a long back and forth of possibly selling him (since I never put him on display since I'm a lazy collector), we're going to keep him in the family. I assumed I could live vicariously through pictures on here, but that won't cut it.

So after God knows how long, he will be leaving the box this week. I'm the laziest poser and futzer around, so I won't be doing much in the way of that, but I do need to address the sash.

I tried searching through this thread, and despite probably overlooking something, I didn't see much on weathering the sash.

I plan on referring back to Jokes and Bats's tutorial on folding. But in terms of weathering itself, any specifics?

I assumed a water treatment and very fine sandpaper might get involved, but I am incredibly dumb with things like this, so the more specific advice, the better.

I'm interested in the answers to this too.

By the way, glad you had a change of heart. This DX is a keeper.

My collection is VERY small. I had a dozen or so at one point, and realized I didn't like having a broad collection. So I plan on only having a few. I've been wavering on him for a while, but am happy he's staying.

Hey guys! Would you know if the DX jack sparrows head would fit into this generic nude body by TTL? I'm considering getting one for my extra head, but I don't know if the ball joint of the DX06's head would be a perfect fit in this body's neck. What do you guys think? Or would there be any other body you'd recommend? How about those nude soldier story bodies?

Also, answer my sash weathering question! Now!

NO! we don't answer questions for folks who don't let their figures out of their cardbord/foam/plastic prisons right away!! :thwak must've been torturous for poor ol Jack

:monkey3

use fine sandpaper especially on the edges. then to give it a bit of a dirty look, water down some light brown paint. and you can either soak in in there for a bit to stain it or use a brush it on. I prefer the brush way so the stains are not so uniform

Jack took his sweet ass time in delays, I'm just showing him that it works both ways. Also, again, I'm lazy. On the bright side, that foam padding looks pretty comfortable. I want to try a human-sized bed like that.

You are overestimating my abilities, or underestimating my stupidity, so I'll just need a couple specifics. What kind of paint? And any ideal dilution ratio?

I might pick up a spare, since I have a feeling attempt one won't be triumphant. But I don't need anything else from TA, and they're yelling at me that I need to spend $5.

paint will be acrylics. I would assume you want a slight brownish tint to it, no? if so, I'd get some brown, white, and yellow to make a muddt color. then ad more water than paint. I honestly couldn't tell you a ratio. when I mix my paints i just mix until it looks how I want :lol. I will say i this case, the wetter the better.

than roll the sash out flat, dip your brush into the diluted/muddy paint and have at it. when I weathered up my medi sparrow sash, I "stabbed" at the sash with my brush instead of brushing it this way to create an uneven dirtiness. wait to see what it looks after giving it a little time to kind of dry and keep going until your satisfied. remember that the ends should probably be dirtier than the rest.

here's a pic of my weathered sash for my still in progress COTBP Jack.

That looks awesome. If it comes out close to that, I'll be happy.

Last question (that is probably a lie): any specific kind of brush? I've never worked with acrylics, the only paint I've ever used is house and finger.

it may be different for some folks but for me, i used one like on the far right of this pic with the brown bristles and rounded top

OR

I'll use something with rougher bristles like the the middle-left 3 in this pic:

Can someone tell me what kind of truetype they used for this figure. If its a slim or a narrow. Thanks in advance!

The hands on this DX Jack look way too shiny though.
It's really the only complaint I have about this figure.

The hands need to have more texturing/dirt on them.
