Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

The sequel will be titled Aliens VS Engineers, or AVE, and that will be the direct prequel to Alien. It will be directed by a first time feature film director that previously directed TV commercials and Hip Hop videos.

quoted for extreme truth :lecture

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

This is what happens when writers (Dan O'Bannon, Ronald Shusett, David Giler & Walter Hill) create a self-contained, one-shot story with as many "cool" ideas as they can (regardless if any of them make sense) to make a Sci-Fi/Horror movie that also incorporates random, unconnected artwork from an artist (Giger) who was doing the whole bio-mechanical thing long before he was involved with the project.

Trying to piece together and make sense out of all these random ideas and things that were never meant to form a cohesive and coherent "grand" story to begin with becomes pointless.

Kinda funny when you think about it.

Firstborn xenomorph, probably the first queen

huh.jpg

Eh. No evidence.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Please dear Engineer, please don't put any Queens in the Prometheus sequels...

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

So the engineers and people have the same DNA? I guess its possible and that technology has lead to there variation from terrestrial humans.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I think they were saying that our DNA is derived from them. Consider that very small changes in DNA can mean a lot---like chimpanzees are much different yet their DNA is very similar to ours (like 98%)

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

lol :rotfl hes making fun of AVP

Probably unerringly accurate once Scott leaves the franchise again.

What would make a good setting would be the 2000 years previous on Earth and the movie reveals that it was a Predator that killed the engineer and not a human at all.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Bring on the Alien Prequel!

Or, bring on a movie set on earth between Prometheus and Resurrection to show how its came to be destroyed.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Just got home from seeing this movie and could not wait to come and post my thoughts on this film:

Plot: weak
Acting: other than the Android --crap
Set dec: good, visually interesting, especially the intro, and the exterior sets.
Alienish sequences: crap, I mean it, pure crap.
Scare metre: :impatient::rotfl your kidding if this was gonna be anything like the original, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th films--crap
Make-up: crap esecially on the 'old guy', decent on the 'Engineer'
Value for $: well I'll never see that $10 again:(
Cinematic experience: never seen a near capacity cinema, that quiet at the end of the movie, like a bunch of Zombies staggering out into the night, awaiting the much necessary kill shot to the cranium.

Out of 10 a 3
Out of 5 a 1.5

But thanks to seeing this movie, I will save lots of $ NOT buying anything from this film.

...just my 2Cents.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I have a feeling that Ridley Scott is trying to get away from the first Alien film.He has said that the sequel to Prometheus will get further away from the series. Not sure why he would do this because people want to see the movies connect together.I was waiting for them to do that and it never came.I think once people find out that this isnt an Alien movie it will Die off at the box office.

I think he meant that he would focus more on the Engineers and expand the whole "origin of mankind" story even more. It will eventually lead up to Alien, but the idea is that the primary plot and vehicle for that to happen isn't fully-developed yet. More will happen with the Space Jockey before the events of Alien are possible.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I seen this the other day..really not sure what to think about it :monkey1
