Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

It's not journalism, though. It's not even an actual review. It's just a goof on a blog. Nothing at all to get annoyed over.

That said, there are also plenty of serious, professional reviews that have dissected this film and exposed its numerous flaws. Well, not necessarily dissected, because some of the problems aren't very difficult to identify and point out at all.

But you can dissect most movies if you want to. I love Aliens it's an awesome movie, but I could rip it apart with a lot of the same criticisms aimed at this film. Characters that you don't care about, and stupid decisions made by the team, just to name two.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Just saw this and enjoyed it very much. But I do have questions for anyone that might shed some light. The ship at the end is the same in Alien, yes? So how did the Space Jockey end up back in the chair? Or you think something else would be explained in a possible prequel sequel?

Google why Prometheus is not a prequel to Alien.

You give any film to a modern day film critic and they'll dissect it and tear it apart.

Acting wasn't THAT great in Aliens either.

The girl who played Vasquez had some pretty bad moments, same with most of the background marines. I like Michael Biehn, but never found him to be an amazing actor. It's like he has Johnny Depp or Angelina Jolie syndrome. He can only play one character. And he seems high in every role he plays. :lol

But Aliens was an AMAZING movie. I love it to death. And I think I'll love Prometheus just as much if not more.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Even the top films have continuity and plot hole issues though. I'm watching Aliens at the mo and moviemistakes.com reports 57 mistakes.:wink1:

The majority of those "mistakes" have to do with filming and editing. That's completely different from piss poor writing.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

With all the hate this film is getting I doubt there will be a "next".

Seriously? Why all the hate? I thought it held up pretty damn good. Anyways, don't mind for another if done as well as this.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Said it before and I'll say it again: Any writer that lets the audience interpret their story the way they want is just lazy. I watch movies to see someone else's work/art not to fill in the blanks because they were too lazy to. And the funny part is, in anything else that would be unacceptable but with movies people praise that BS.

Imagine hiring people to build you a house and when you show up to see the finished product there's just a bunch of wood laying on the ground and then the contractor says "It's up to YOU and your imagination to decide how this ends!"

Yeah.. ____ all that. Tell it to the judge pinky.

Regardless of whether it was billed as "not" a prequel, you have people that wnated this to build directly into Alien. Then theres people that just didn't like it. Not everyone is going to like everything, but I thought it was doing pretty well at the box-office for an R rated movie. :dunno

Plus, it had to come out swinging against madagascar 3, and I personally love the madagascar stuff, but I chose Prometheus and a babysitter friday night and left the kids at home. :wave

A house is real though. Giant Space Jockeys who keep pet alien cobras and drink shots of black goo aren't real and even an explanation like 'the black goo kills people because it's bad' will never satisfy everyone anyway.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Aliens in on Channel 4 by the way for you guys in the UK.:yess:

Yep I'm watching it now. Lord I still love this one.

I was lucky enough to visit the set during the setting up of the movie (tried to get a job on it, but was too late) and remeber seeing Ripleys cryo pod under a tarporline out side and remember walking down the metal grided walkways of the colony main corridoor set.

Happy days.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

R rated?! In Australia it's received an M rating. I was a little like WTF? Especially during the c-section

Jeez...that's sounds awesome and one of those once in a lifetime things. Any pics? :D

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

It's doing very well. There is a lot of internet hate. But that's ALWAYS there. I don't think it has the universal appeal of say, Avengers, but there are plenty of people who loved it or liked it. It's just that usually the people who really like something are less inclined to post over and over about it. I think a lot of people just delight in talking about how much they dislike something. It seems to be a thing human beings like to do.

I'm cool with that. I think this'll find plenty of audience. The studio never expected this to make 100m opening weekend or anything. They were hoping for high 30's (probably just playing it safe) and they got in the 50's.

Oh god no! You weren't allowed to use a camera on a set (even one being set up) and I was there for a job interview as well, so It would have looked doubly bad.

I remember did get taken to the model building workshop and saw various model power loader and vehicles.
