That looks like something meant for a retail store, what with the locked section on the bottom. It's a shame that they didn't get rid of that and make the shelves go all the way to the floor. But if it's like other retail display cases I've seen, you're meant to lock the items inside on display, with the product boxes/cases locked away underneath. You ask an employee for help and they get it for you.

I would love something like that for my home or office, but not if I am going to lose a quarter of the potential display area due to a big locked box.

It's nice looking, but I don't get the locked storage area, either. It does seem like a waste of space. What would you keep in there?

I worked in a retail store in the past, and we had displays like that that held jewelry and watches. The actual boxes were locked underneath with the display samples shown above. This display case was designed with retailers in mind, not collectors like us. We store our boxes in the closet or attic, not right underneath our display area. If your local hobby or collectible store sells Star Wars items, this would be a great thing for them to buy. For you personally to have at your house, maybe not.

It definitely looks like a store display. Over at RS their description makes it sound like it's for collectors. Especially since there's an exclusive gold version and a limited window for buying one.

It doesn't really matter. I'm not going to be buying one. :lol

This case doesn't look significantly different than any other run of the mill retailer display cabinet, it just has a star wars plaque glued to it. I could understand a nice display case, maybe incorporating some movie elements, like a Hoth level, a Geonosis level, a Tatooine level, but this is way expensive for what it is. While never commercially available, the Sideshow LOTR display that traveled to conventions is the ultimate way to do this.

Nice but I agree it should have a extra glass shelf. And since star wars is printed on it, you can add $1000 to the price tag of a normal shelf.

I could find nicer home display shelves and silk screen the Star Wars logo on them myself. Don't get me wrong. I like the idea and I think it' s neat, but that shelf leaves a little to be desired.

It looks nice but it's hardly the best display case ever. Some will go nuts over it just because it's got the SW logo on it but aside from that there's nothing else that stands out about it.

It looks nice but how big are the shelves?

I think personally I'd rather just get a bigger display case. I mean the case itself is nice but the only difference between that and another display case is that that one says star wars on it.

I think if you have a display case full of star wars collectibles, its pretty redundant for the case itself to say star wars as well.

You know, the more I think about this, the more absurd it is!:rotfl

"I like your Star Wars Cabinet"
"Oooh, thanks, it is the perfect place to display my toupee collection!"

I was just going with the idea of having a huge star wars display in a cabinet with a little tiny plaque that indicates what the collection is. Since it seems so silly, I thought I would joke on the absurdity of having a "star wars" labelled cabinet, and displaying something nonsensical in it. Absurd sarcasm doesn't come through too well without inflection. :monkey2

Now you have me wanting to buy this Star Wars display cabinet so that I can fill it up with some of my Sideshow/Weta Lord of the Rings statues and busts...

Interesting - I really like the box at the bottom. I find that the extra accessories, display stands, etc. have to go someplace, and I prefer keeping them near their owners.

On top of that, the bottom shelf in any glass case is wasted space anyway. You stick your least favorite stuff there because you know nobody is going to bend down that low to check it out.

That being said, I have no interest in picking one of these up.

Michael,

This is a review that coould be totally quoted out of context, and be misinterpreted as glowing
