I've got nothing against whoring out a summer blockbuster, but this really is getting obscene. I honestly wasn't expecting this much hype for the new flick.

I was expecting some fast food tie-ins and the toys obviously, but this is a Star Wars level marketing blitz. It's been a while, but I don't recall the previous Indy films getting nearly this big of a push. As popular as the Indy franchise is, I didn't think it could sustain this level of hype. I'm not sure any films outside of Star Wars could sustain this much hype.
I don't think LFL is interested in sustaining things long-term so much as raking in as much $$$$$ as they can within this fertile Spring/Summer window for INDY.

With all of the big anticipated movies hitting this summer I have a feeling that window is gonna be shorter than they think. A couple of weeks after the movie's been out most people will have already moved on and Indy will be gone from their minds. I foresee a good bit of this merchandise will be had for a song in just a few short months.
That's the only good thing to all this. Christmas time blow-outs!

No offense but is this really a big surprise?? 
There have been several movies/TV series before that have been NASCAR sponsors. Star Wars, ET, Superman Returns, Justice Leauge cartoon, Talladega Nights

...heck Batman Begins not only sponsored a race car but WB also bought the rights to a race, the Batman Begins 400. They even had the Batmobile taking laps before the race in Michigan.

I'm curious to know if "Speed Racer" has/will be doing the same thing. That seems more like a no-brainer, just like an "Indy" Indy car.

Yeah, you should see the driver's (Marco Andretti) firesuit... it is made to look like Indy's jacket, pants, belts, gun holster, etc.
But really, it is a good marketing tie-in... Indiana Jones at the Indianapolis 500... what could be better?!!
